A Routine Boarding in Burlington

A Trip to Crown Pt.

A large part of the summer here at the station is search and rescue season. Another large part of the season is performing boardings and safety inspections of vessels underway on the lake. This vessel was over 89 feet long and was boarded late in the season as part of a set of routine safety inspections of vessels in the area. It is also important for the crews at the station to keep up on their knowledge of the geography of the area. Luckily, Lake Champlain is a very historical area with sites, forts, sunken ships and other historical monuments dating back to before the revolutionary war. Crown Pt is the sight of English and French forts from before the Revolutionary war. Many old lighthouses also exist throughout the area.
