I recently started playing risk and have found a few things to be
super-ultra-extra annoying (family size) about the standard
gameplay, specifically how a good strategy can be effortlessly
defeated by a 5-year old with good dice rolls. One of the things we
are trying are variations of the values of dice rolls.
For all examples, Red is attacker and Blue is defender...
Attacker must still beat defender by 1 for defender to lose, but
cannot lose pieces unless beaten by 3. Ties cause NO LOSSES.
Red rolls: 5,4
Blue rolls: 4,3
Result: Blue loses 2
Red roll: 6,6
Blue roll:6,6
Result: nothing
Red roll: 4,3
Blue roll: 6,4
Result: nothing
Red roll: 3,2
Blue roll: 6,4
Result: red loses 2
Again, ties cause no losses.
Try these rules out.. while some people love the chance aspect of
the game, it makes no sense. The dice rules as they exist are simply
a handicapping method. This is the same reason a bowler with a 220
average can be beaten by a 25 average bowler with a handicap and a
