Rev. Granville Moody Camp Chase Post Commander, March-July 1862.
The Union officer in charge of Camp Chase during this time was Col. Granville Moody of the 74th OVI. From the same regiment Major Ballard was appointed to supervise the police of the camp, and Lt. William Armstrong was detailed as Post Adjutant. Sergeant Major Rodgers, of the 76th OVI, was appointed Sergeant Major of the Post. Col. Moody continued in command until June 25, when he was relieved at his own request and went to the field. Later he would be known as the Fighting Parson, after his heroic acts at the battle of Stones River.
