Levi Hamilton was from Jackson County, FL. He fought in the 6th FL Inf., Company F,
along side his brother, Zachariah Hamilton. Levi was captured on July 23,
1864 by Sherman's army near Atlanta. He enlisted 5/8/1862 at the
Appalachicola Arsenal. Interestingly,
Zack was captured 12/16/1864 near Atlanta and was sent to Camp Douglas. Levi
was married to Rebecca Hewett. According to probate records they had 6
children at the time he died.
Levi died of smallpox on Feb 17, 1865. His grave # is 1287.
