~ BURIAL LOCATIONS ~


According to folklore....


One raider was buried in the yard next to the Middleswart School after being shot in the head.

One killed in a little hollow back of the Middleswart Cemetery.

One killed in the fight near the Anderson farm and buried in a pawpaw patch close to a spring.

One man ridden down in a hollow near the Marchi Clark house on Wells Run and shot dead. He was buried in a shallow grave on the spot. This property may have last been the Cornell family farm. The land was cultivated subsequently but the grave remained untouched. Stones were piled on top of the grave.

One man was wounded at the Forks of Dewitt's Run and taken in by "Granny" Biram. He was buried in a grave near Bird Spring but his family removed his body after the war.

One raider who died of smallpox is buried in the woods nearby the home of Bart and Nancy Wells at the "Falls on Wells Run"(or he may have been buried on Forked Run )

One killed and buried on the Smith Farm beside Jack Still near Perry Fork.

At least three raiders were killed and buried in the Daughtery Cemetery. They died in the Daughtery house.
