Fourth Executive Officer of USS Indiana BB-58, from 10 March 1945 to 17 November 1945.

William Hugh OrganWilliam Hugh Organ was born 29 June 1903 in San Francisco, CA. His parents were William H. Organ and Nellie Hanson Organ of Berkeley, CA. He attended the University of Nevada for 2 years before entering the Naval Academy July 2, 1923.

02 June 1927 Graduated from US Naval Academy and commissioned Ensign.

27 August 1927 to 28 December 1928 Assigned to Communications on the USS New York.

29 January 1929 to 29 May 1929 Flying Instruction at Naval Station at Pensacola, FL.

29 June 1929 to 31 July 1929 Engineering and Gunnery on the USS New York.

31 July 1929 to June 1934 Lieutenant JG in Engineering, Gunnery and Communications on the USS Perry (DD 340).

July 1934 to May 1937 Postgraduate Instruction at the Navy Academy and received Master's Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California. Commissioned Lieutenant.

July 1937 to January 1940 Communication Officer on the USS Black Hawk.

March 1940 to July 1940 Engineering on the USS Nevada.

August 1940 to April 1941 Communications on the USS Maryland.

May 1941 to July 1943 Lieutenant Commander at Bureau of Ships - Radar.

August 1943 Commissioned Commander

November 1943 Navigator on USS Honolulu.

November 1943 to January 1945 Radar on staff of CinCPac.

10 March to 17 November 1945 Executive Officer on the USS Indiana.

November 1945 to April 1946 Electronics Officer at the Bureau of Ships. Upon reporting to the Bureau of Ships was promoted to Rank of Captain USN to Rank from 20 March 1945,

April 1946 to March 1948 Electronics Officer at Long Beach Naval Shipyard, 11th Naval District.

March 1948 to May 1949 Commander USS Marias.

May 1949 to August 1952 Electronics at Navy Operations, Navy Department.

05 August 1952 to March 1954 Commander Destroyer Squadron 6

March 1954 Commander Fleet Training Group, Narragansett Bay. RI.

01 July 1956 Retired and advanced to Rear Admiral on basis of combat awards.

17 August 1992 Rear Admiral William H. Organ died.
