GLASS PAINTED FRAME

Designed by Doreen and Myron Scerri

Materials needed

1  clip frame 13cm x 18 cm
Design for glass painting (refer to notes for
                                    copying a design)
White spirit
Paper towels
Outliners in black, silver and gold
Glass paints in red, yellow and blue.
Paintbrush
Toothpicks or cotton buds for lifting outliner errors.
A black permanent pen

Choose your design and adapt it to the size of the
frame. Refer to Notes on Copying a Design for
Glass Painting. You might wish to use a design
that will leave space in the middle of the frame
for a favourite photo. Or you might wish to
decorate all the glass and make the frame into a
picture.

Disassemble the frame and place your design right
under the glass.  Assemble the frame again.
Clean the glass with a piece of paper towel
dabbed with white spirit.  You are now ready to
start outlining your design.  See link on side to
Notes on Glass Painting.  A little practice before
starting your project will help you do a better job
and make you more confident in your work.

Giving the frame a 3-D effect.

Disassemble the frame once more.  Place the
glass, painted side down over a clean work
surface.  Clean the glass with a piece of paper
towel dabbed with white spirit.

If you want to frame to hold a photo, using one
colour as background sponge paint only around
the glass painted design: this will leave a central
space clear to display you photo.   You can use
blue for a marine effect, green for a garden effect
etc., depending on your design.  Alternatively, you
can sponge paint the whole area if you want the
frame to be a picture in itself.  Leave to dry.
Re-assemble the frame, replacing the design
sheet with a white or coloured sheet or with your
favourite photo.

Sign your masterpiece with glass outliner or with a
permanent pen.
                                   Enjoy!
