ONE OF THE OLDEST CLUBS IN  AMATEUR RUGBY LEAGUE

HISTORY

Formed way back in 1880 they have a proud tradition in the world of amateur rugby league. History shows that after the second world war the club reformed, and in1952 took on then the mighty Widnes in a two legged Challenge Cup Tie and only lost 20-3 . A few years further on in 1978 under the name of National Dock Labour Board (N D L B) they lost out to local rivals Cawoods (now West Hull) in the National Cup Final in Blackpool by 10 pts to 3pts. The season of 1982 proved to be a good one for the club, because they put up a stunning display before finally going down 13-7 against professional opposition in the form of New Hunslet. They have in recent years made a name for themselves in cup competitions. In 1974-75 they lost in the final of the Yorkshire Cup 17-12 to Dewsbury Celtic, who also beat them in the1977-78 final 13-7. The following season they were to miss out yet again when beaten in the final by local rivals Ace Amateurs 8-4. Eleven years later and still no change in fortune when they narrowly lost 18-16 to the Leeds based side Bisons. When the National Dock Labour Board was abolished in 1989 they changed their name to Hull Dockers this seemed to also change their fortune, and in the 1991-92 season became the first club to lift theYorkshire Cup and National Cup in that season . In the Yorkshire Cup they defeated Park Amateurs 41-8 and in the National Cup they defeated local rivals Skirlaugh by 27 -8 . The season previous they had tasted defeat in the National Cup final by losing out to the Oldham side Saddleworth Rangers 27-14. 1995-96 season saw them enter the National Conference League were they battled away in division two until season 2000 /01 when they gained promotion finishing runners up to the St Helens side Thatto Heath.  Season 2003/04 saw further promotion for the club as they finished third in the first division of the National Conference league, this was enough for them to gain entry into the National Conference Premier League.
