Welcome! You are at the sign up page for the Canine Epilepsy Ring.
This ring was created on December 27th 1999 with the aim of linking together the homepages of people who have dogs who have epilepsy/seizures. Sites providing information about epilepsy or canine neurology are also welcome to join.
This ring is FREE to join and use, all that is asked is that you meet the requirements set out below. If your site does not fulfil these requirements then you may want to go to Ringsurf to see if there's a ring which is more applicable.

The Canine Epilepsy Ring Requirements.
1. There must be at least 1 page about your epileptic dog(s) or about canine epilepsy. Photographs and related information would be great but are not a requirement to join the ring.
2. The Canine Epilepsy Ring HTML code you get MUST be placed on the page you specify when you apply to the ring. This is because an automated checker is used to check the rings integrity. If your code can't be found your page will automatically be moved back to the queue until changes are made. The code can either be on your dog's page or on a webring page (see point 3).
3. You may have links pages and webring pages, but your site cannot be made up totally of such pages. If you have a webring page there must be a link to either your canine epilepsy page or your site index. There must also be clear links back to the webring so visitors can continue round the ring.
4. This ring is to be suitable for all ages so your site MUST NOT contain adult language, pornography, promotion of cruelty to animals or reference to any illegal activity. To this end the ringmaster will check all sites and reserves the right to both refuse a site entry to the ring and to remove sites which are deemed by the ringmaster to be unsuitable.
If your site meets these requirements and you wish to join the ring just follow the steps detailed below. Please follow them carefully and do exactly what they say. If you have any problems or need help you can e-mail the ringmaster.
STEP 1 Submit Your Site to the Queue
Complete the following form, filling in every field. This will submit your site to the ring queue and generate an on screen form giving you your site ID and the password you entered. Save this information as you will need it if you ever need to edit your site.
STEP 2 Upload the Ring Graphics.
You next should save the following graphic with its original name into the directory where your homepage is. DO NOT link to the graphics on this page, doing so will take up my bandwidth and jeopardise my page. If you have any problems or need help you can e-mail the ringmaster.

STEP 3 Add the Ring HTML Code to Your Homepage
When you submitted the form (STEP 1) as well as receiving an on screen message telling you your site ID and password you were sent an e-mail message. This message contains the HTML code you need to put on your site. It will be personalised for you so all you need to do is cut and paste it into the page on which you want the ring to be.
You MUST also check the 4th line of code (IMG src ="PLACE THE URL YOU HAVE THE GRAPHIC STORED HERE epi1.jpg" ALT = "Canine Epilepsy WebRing) and ensure that "img src=" points to the directory where you have saved your graphic.
If you do not receive the e-mail containing the code after 24hours of submitting the form or your added HTML code does not look like the example below, please e-mail the ringmaster.

STEP 4 Get Added to the Ring.
As soon as you have copied the graphics and added the HTML code you were sent you are ready to be added to the ring. What you need to do is e-mail the ringmaster stating your site ID number and the URL of your homepage.
The webmaster will check your site to make sure it meets the rings requirements and also that the HTML code is correct. Your site will then be added to the ring and you will be sent an e-mail confirming your addition to the ring.
Note 1: You need to add the HTML code you receive and e-mail the webmaster to add you to the ring within 30 days of receiving the code. After 30 days the system will automatically delete your request from the queue and if you still want to join you will need to reapply. If this happens you will receive an e-mail telling you this.
Note 2: To be a success the ring needs to maintain it's integrity - who wants to find broken links all round the ring? To this end the webmaster will periodically check round the ring (pages with errors will be moved back to the queue until corrections are made), however to be helpful, if you move the page on which the ring code is located, move your homepage to a different provider or delete your homepage would you either edit your details or e-mail the webmaster specifying the changes. Thank you
