Dixie is this year's Committee Chairdog. She is responsible for putting together the Independence Day Celebration. 2000 Parade Theme Okie is this year's float coordinator. Patriotism Among DogsFloats All dogs in the neighborhood are invited to enter a float into the first parade of this century. You must keep with the theme of the parade, which is "Patriotism Among Dogs". Float judging will take place at the electric pole. Prizes are as followed: First Place - A Rump Roast Cooked to Perfection Second Place - A Hamburger cut the veggies Special Judges Award - A night in the human's bed Float judging will be done by the Human. All float entries receive a dog biscuit. Decorated Cat Contest 1999 Decorated Cat Contest Winner Chandler with the cat he decorated. This is a fun contest for participants and parade watchers alike. 1999 was our biggest year ever with over 50 participants. Great job dogs! The Decorated Cat Contest was sponsored by the Human. The Grand Prize Winner received an ultra Tennisbone, courtesy of the Human. This event is open to all dogs in the neighborhood. To enter, dogs decorate a cat (if they can get one to hold still) with the 4th of July theme, and ride the parade route from the big pecan tree, to the electric pole. All participants receive a dog bone or cat treat. Judging is done by the Human. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST NOT BITE OR CLAW The Dog House The Dog House, located in the dog pen is where Elum will emcee the 4th of July Parade. The Dog House is also where Dixie, the Independence Day Committee Chairdog over sees the parade. The Dog House is also where the Miss Independence Queen and her Court are seated. Chelsea is on the Independence Day Committee and is helping to arrange the fireworks display. 1999 Miss Independence Queen Hillary as Miss Independence Day The Human along with the Dog Independence Day Festivities Committee co-sponsors the Miss Independence Day Contest, where the Queen is chosen by the Human. The Human also decorates and provides the float for Miss Independence Queen.   We would like to thank the Human, who made all of this possible and will also be the parade clown.
