The sorcerer that
stole the Magic Mirror from King Edward took
it to his dwelling and set one of his beasts to guard over it. This beast
was a terrible, fire-breathing dragon. The main entrance to the cavern
where it lived was blocked off by a huge boulder, but Sir
Graham managed to find another way inside, through an underwater tunnel
in an ancient well. Once inside, he used a bucket of water to put out the
Dragon's fire. This was enough to defeat the Dragon, as it quickly removed
the boulder and left the cavern and the Magic Mirror behind him. The cave
behind the boulder had an opening out in the Daventry countryside, but
no one in Daventry reported seeing the dragon ever again. It probably left
Daventry forever. No sign of the sorcerer was seen inside the cavern either,
so recovering the Magic Mirror was a relatively easy task for Sir Graham.
