Biography

After getting rid of the Bridge Troll, Sir Graham was free to pass the bridges he guarded, and on the other side was an island where an old gnome lived. This gnome told Sir Graham that he had something useful to give him, but he would only do so if he could correctly guess his name. This was quite a challenge. His first guess would have been Rumplestiltskin, a common gnome name, but this old gnome seemed very clever, so Sir Graham suspected the answer wouldn't be quite that easy. Remembering the message left on the note he found in the witch Dahlia's house, saying "Sometimes it is wise to think backwards", he decided to try something different. Just turning the name backwards didn't seem clever enough, so he decided to turn the alphabet backwards instead. It took some time to figure it out, but the answer that he came up to was Ifnkovhgrogprm. Amazingly, this was the correct answer. Impressed, the gnome left some magic beans for Sir Graham and disappeared.

Note: In the SCI version of the game, the gnome settled for the answer Nikstlitselpmur, Rumplestiltskin spelled backwards.
