Home Up Family Stories Jews in Hungary

horizontal rule

Members of the family may never get to meet each other in person. Some will be fortunate enough to travel and to seek and to receive invitations to the homes of family members, most will not.

As a result the documentation on this and related web sites is intended as a poor substitute for the real thing by providing access to pictures and stories and other information about the family held on the central data base with me.

The details of living family members are not posted to this web site. Respecting their right to privacy is the reason. Thus existing family members who wish to contribute their details to the data base should also decide what if any of their detailed information they would like to have displayed in the web enabled version of the genealogy data base.

Individual family members seeking information from me can have the following services provided on request. ALAS if you are NOT a family member then I will provide general assistance to get you started in genealogy, but that is all the time that I can offer.

1. you can have access to information about your family in a Rich Text Format file which will tabulate your ancestry with as much information as is available on the data base

2. You can have a copy of your family's ancestors in a web enabled format with ALL of the details available including photos

3. You can have access to a complete history of all of the members of the family in a GEDCOM file format that is capable of being used in virtually any genealogy package

4. You can have personal assistance to set up your own genealogy data base on your own PC with FREE software by simply writing to me and asking for assistance

5. I can provide information about web pages that contain historical information and/or relevant research

6. I can provide links that may not be featured from these web pages to search engines and to genealogical research sites

I have been writing to people who have been kind enough to find this site and to get in touch with me and one of the really important things that always features in our communications is the question of what YOU can do to make this site as useful as possible.

Specifically, finding information in data bases, or from documents that are in the public domain is merely one way to obtain the information about people. A far more useful and speedy solution is to ask people about themselves and their immediate family members so that the information, while often coloured by the personal filters of our own perception is immediately available and current.

The sort of demographic information that is useful is made up of the following:

bulletDATES
These can be of: (for example)
bulletbirth
bulletbar or batmitzvah (if you happen to be Jewish)
bulletconfirmation (if happen to be Christian)
bulletmarriage
bulletdivorce
bulletdeath
bulletmigration
bulletentry into the armed forces
bulletPLACES including full addresses if known (including current residence, phone, fax, email and web page locations) Providing information about places sets the event in situ.
bulletEDUCATION:- information about a person's education, where it took place when it took place etc enables a search of school files and graduation pictures etc all of which provide informative memorabilia
bulletEMPLOYMENT DETAILS:- information about what a person does or did for a living can help to set that person's situation in the context of a given time period and can help a reader better understand perhaps the kind of situation in which an ancestor found him or herself at some point in time and place.
bulletPHOTOS, DRAWINGS, VOICE records, Movies:- all of these can be stored and retrieved and can provide a more interactive look and feel to the data that is held about us.
