- The
online quizzes and discussions are to be done through
etude. Please log into etude to complete the assignments
- There
are eight online quizzes. Each quiz contains 32 multiple
choice questions typically covering three chapters.
Two of the questions are for extra credit. The final
quiz (# 7) is for extra credit. The quiz questions are
taken from the online quizzes review. (click on "Documents"
link.) I strongly advise you to go over the online quizzes
review before taking the quizzes. You have until the
end of the semester to complete the quizzes. The duration
of each quiz is two hours.
- There
are seven discussions, each covering a topic in astronomy.
I will add a new discussion every week, and it will
remain opened throughout the semester.
- There
is a research paper requirement for this class. The
topic can be anything related to the subject of astronomy.
You need to email and let me know the topic in advance.
The research paper is double spaced and should be about
5-6 pages long. You need to have at least three references
sited. The references can be from the internet.
- There
is also an extra credit book/field trip report worth
3% points. The report should be about 3 pages double
spaced. The book's topic should be astronomy related.
If you choose the field trip, the destionation should
related to astronomy or space science. For example,
you could visit an Griffith observatory, space museum,
JPL, etc.
