This is Luke, our second Champion (54T-05-97). He took Best Yellow Face in Show at the 1997 Motor City Bird Breeders Show in Warren, Michigan. Not our best bird, but by far our most seasoned competitor who has been shown since he was a barhead and continues in 1999 to place in the Novice division. Luke finished his show career by taking first place in his section of the Novice Division at th 1999 All American in Orlando. He can look forward to a pleasant retirement. He has been in more shows than any Battery B bird.

I'm trying to teach Luke not to wave at the judges. It's bad form.
This is Perdu (54T-01-98), who took Best Novice Hen at Blue Chip 1998 and Best Hen in Show at the 1998 Motor City Bird Breeders.

This is Spring (54T-23-98) as a barhead. She's a Spangle Yellow Face Cinnamon Cobalt, half sister to Perdu, and 3rd Best Hen in Show at the 1998 Motor City Bird Breeders Show.

Here's a more recent shot of Spring. Even looking a little rough, she looks pretty good. And I don't particularly care for Cinnamons! Wouldn't you know it was my cinnamon hens who saved the day at the 1999 All American. Spring was terrified when she was first put up to be judged. Then, it can only be Divine Intervention, the judge decided to answer the call of nature. When he returned, Spring had settled down nicely. She won 9th Best Novice.

Tres (54T-03-98) took home the 10th Best in Show honors at 1998 Motor City Bird Breeders.

Let's all agree that Harper (54T-16-98) doesn't have the best spots we've ever seen! He is huge, and he won the Best Dark Green at the '99 GLBS show, making him Battery B's 9th Champion. Harper gets an honorable mention for being one of the last birds turned back at the 1999 All American, where he took second place in his section (dark factor birds).

This is Florida, 54T-42-98, full sister to Spring. Florida took Best Novice Hen and 4th Novice at the 1999 All American in Orlando. She's not a Champion, but she has earned her place on this page!

These aren't show birds! These are pals. Summer on the left and Blackbeard on the right are siblings of Spring, but you will notice their heads are flecked. These two have a place in the aviary because they are naturally friendly, often landing on my net or my hand. Blackbeard was in the sale cage for a while, but he is the naturally tamest bird I've ever known. They may produce good offspring, but they won't be mated to other flecked birds. These birds are beginning to look pretty good. At a recent club meeting, several of the Champion breeders commented favorably about Summer.
