Michael de Mesa

belongs to an acting family that includes mother Rosemarie Gil, sister Cherrie Gil, brother Mark Gil and wife Gina Alajar - all multi-awarded performers for their wide range of screen portrayals. He himself has a best actor award (Urian for Unfaithful Wife, 1986) on top of a trio of best supporting actor honors (FAP for Paradise Inn, 1985; FAMAS for Unfaithul Wife, 1986 and Urian for Ikasa Mo, Ipuputok Ko, 1990). Having acted before the cameras since age 12, he considers his transition to becoming a director most natural. Backed by a six-week hands-on intensive film production course at the New York University in 1994, he finally had a crack at filmmaking with the half of the recently released twinbill, Calvento Files. The industry welcomes him as one actor-turned-director who has got all that it takes to be a real actor's director.
