I'm 44 with spastic diplegia. Still independant & want to stay that way. Not as active as I used to be & now have to use a walker. Interested in ways to keep from deteriorating besides home stretching/strengthening exercising & meds. Is there any? Mo t recent surgery has been low back L4-5 laminectomy & fusion. Would like to avoid need for additional surgery, in the future, & will continue to check site for contributions from fellow CP'ers. Thanks!! Hang In There

I guess I am not the only person experiencing more problems with my CP as I age! Still the medical folks seem to have no info. I was an athelete until 5 years ago. Now my balance is going south. This is a really scary situation. I am 42 and really worried about the next 10 years.

I am a 33 year old female with spastic CP. I was diagnosed as Spastic diplesia, but as I've gotten older, my hands have also been affected, and I've been upgraded (?) to Spastic Quadraplegia. I know there isn't much written about adults and CP which is re lly sad... I use a manual wheelchair and a Service Dog. About 15 years ago, I decided to use a wheelchair, because it hurt too much to walk.

I am 41 years old and have had CP all my life. I developed severe cervical spondylosis and had surgery a 1 1/2 years ago. It was successfull and have done well, except it seems to be getting worse again. I am also interrested in the aging of CP. I wan to know what I am up against. I will never give in to it, but it is hard at times not to. I am hoping to hear from others who may have complications with cervical spondylosis, and of course anyone with CP. Thanks....

I am Mom to a wonderful 12 year old son with CP. He is spastic quadriplegia...and wheelchair bound, with most of his needs being met by me. I am very interested in learning if his life expectancy is somewhat shorter than the average male because of this condition or perhaps because he is in a wheelchair. Is there a way to get feedback on this from others who may know first hand. It seems i get answers that are as varied as the colors in the rainbow when I seek answers to this from my doctors and from medical journals.
