The Ladies TeamThere are a number of us who possess no sports background or paddling experience when we first join the team. But with the help, guidance and support from our seniors and our coach, we got the hang of it all and improve our paddling performance. Many of us come from the various club teams and school teams in Singapore.
The Vibrant team of 2000!
Our coach is Mr Ng Sin Teik and he is a versatile paddler able to paddle on either
sides of a dragon boat. This gives him the skill to present demonstration to both the left
and right side paddlers. He is a very good and caring coach who always buy us
bananas and apples Come meet my Captain and Vice-captain! :>
My Captain, Elise My Vice-Captain, Ivy Kang The Ladies team training is comprised of both water and land works. We also train with weights to build up our strength and power. Most of the time we train with free weights consisting of bar bells and dumb bells. One good thing is that one could learn a lot of new things, especially proper weights lifting techniques and methods. Now I'm not afraid to step into a gym to lift weights. Actually ladies can train up with weights as good as guys can. Here's an illustration of our training schedule :
During off-peak seasons usually there will be no trainings on Sunday. The above training schedule is only a guideline, and should give you some ideas how the training is like and what do for our training. However, it is subjected to change due to certain circumstances as this is decided by our coach and we have to follow his instructions. For updated training schedule and training program, please visit SDBA web site for more information.
The Sea Games team at 1997 Jakarta Sea Games All of us in the team come from different background. Some of us are already in the working population, but there are also a number of us who are still students from educational institutions in Singapore. You have a chance to meet new people and new friends. :>
During major Games and international races we often have to race in a full-sized Dragon boat. This is the Ladies Team in the Sea Games 1997. So it you are willing to dedicate the time and effort do come join us and you can be sure you are in for an adventure of a lifetime! When we go for Overseas races, we have a chance to visit places of interests. This is us during our races in China in 1997. Many of us bought lots of souvenirs from China to give to friends and family back in Singapore. And now here's a brief outline of the team's humble achievement board from 1997 onwards. :) I have been with the team for a short period, so for the more updated info for this, you can contact SDBA.
