I apologize for the missing episodes, but I can't stomach this show on a regular basis.
JanuaryJanuary 25, 2000I don't really like this show, but I watch it. Of note, this episode of Angel had a higher Nielsen's rating than the episode of Buffy which led into this hour. I'm going to keep this short. Cordelia meets some sufficiently shallow friends, and they all go out one night. The girls meet a group of powerful and attractive guys, and each girl goes home with a guy. Cordelia goes home with her guy and has sex for the first time (as in loses her virginity). The next morning she wakes up and sees that she is late for work. But then she sees that she is pregnant. She calls Angel, and he and Wesley come to help her. Wesley takes Cordelia to the hospital where it is revealed that she will have her babies at any moment. Oh yes, that's right she is having seven babies. The doctors are nervous about such a large pregnancy so they draw some amniotic fluid from Cordelia. (by the way, in real life it would have been way too late to safely draw amniotic fluid) The fluid is acidic and burns through a tube. Anyway, Cordelia and Wesley return to Cordelia's apartment. Wesley does some research and learns that Cordelia has been impregnated by a Hacksaw beast. The beast cannot be defeated by fire or through stabbing. But once defeated, the mothers will lose their babies and return to normal. All of a sudden Cordelia hits Wesley over the head with a pot and knocks him unconscious. Apparently, the babies have a telepathic connection with the mom through the psychic umbilical cord which allow the babies to control Cordelia's behavior. In the meantime, Angel visits one of Cordelia's friends and discovers that she is pregnant also. He then tries to find out where the guys they all had sex with are from. He learns that they hang out at a gun club. Angel goes to the gun club (by this point he knows that the beast is a hacksaw beast) and asks the men where they summoned the beast. He beats them up until they tell him. Angel and Wesley go to this spot where the beast was summoned and see Cordelia and a bunch of girls in some fluid getting ready to have the babies. The beast comes to get the babies when Wesley and Angel attack him with a bottle of nitric oxide that freezes the beast. Yeah! All are back to normal. Cordelia is happy to know that she has friends like Wesley and Angel who will help her in crises.FUN FACT #1The name of the ghost that haunts Cordelia's apartment is Dennis. FUN FACT #2 Wesley's last name is Pryce ANGEL ON CORDELIA'S CRAVING FOR BLOOD: I don't think I ever realized just how disgusting that was. NEXT WEEK: Rerun. January 18, 2000I really don't think this show is great. Angel has been having these awful nightmares. As it turns out, the nightmares are reality in that as he dreams of a killing, the killing takes place. He becomes nervous that he is the killer so he chains himself to bed one night. A killing takes place that night so we know Angel isn't the killer. Angel reasons that a vampire named Penn is, because Penn is recreating kills he once committed alongside Angel. Kate Lockley is the detective on this case, and Angel gives her a picture of Penn as well as a description of the next crime. Police are sent out to catch Penn before the next crime takes place. Two cops find Penn in the act of committing the murder and follow him into a building. Kate arrives on the scene and shoots Penn three times, but bullets don't hurt him. Angel then comes and fights off Penn. Penn escapes, but now Kate knows that Angel is a vampire. She feels betrayed by him and doesn't want to talk to him. Later, Penn kidnaps Kate, and Angel comes to the rescue. Kate shoves a huge stake through both of them, but only Penn turns to dust. Angel thought that Kate tried to kill him because she doesn't like that he's a vampire, but she says that she knew who she was slaying. Will these two become friends again? Or will she fell violated by his demon- esqueness?CASTING NOTE:The name Alexis Denisoff now adorns the opening credits. Denisoff plays "rogue demon-hunter" and former watcher Wesley QUOTE OF THE EPISODE:You look half-dead, which for someone completely dead is pretty wow. --Cordelia to Angel NEXT WEEK: Cordelia wakes up one morning two hours late for work and nine months pregnant. As it turns out, the babies are twins. Is Angel the father? January 11, 2000RerunJanuary 4, 2000RerunDecemberDecember 28, 1999RerunDecember 21, 1999rerunDecember 14, 1999I guess that this show isn't all that bad, and if there is as much Cordelia in future episodes as there was on this one, then I'll be a happy camper. Unbeknownst to me (because I wasn't watching), Doyle died at the end of the last episode. Angel goes to the Powers That Be (or as Cordelia calls them the P.T.B.) and asks them to reverse time and bring Doyle back (keep in mind that the PTB did this with the Buffy crossover episode). The PTB say "no," but that Angel will not be cut off from the PTB...that when one door closes another door opens. Anyway, Cordelia is at an audition when she receives a vision. Yes, that's right folks...Doyle's legacy to Cordelia are his powers...she thinks that she got these powers from Doyle's good-bye kiss to her so she will now kiss every in an attempt to give him the power of vision. Well, there's this whole back storyline with a demon named Barney, who is a pathic demon, meaning that he can sense other people's emotions. Barney comes to Angel for help. Angel goes to Barney's apartment to find out who this man is and sees Wesley at the apartment. NOTE: We last saw Wesley on last year's season finale of Buffy. Wesley was returning to England because Buffy rejected him as a slayer. Wesley shares that he was fired from the Council and that he has become "a rogue demon fighter." Barney mistook Wesley for the bad guy, but as it turns out Barney is the evil man who hurt another guy. Barney discovers Cordelia's power and captures her and auctions her off...claiming that she will see other people's futures. A woman from Wolfram and Hart bids $30,000 for Cordelia and just as this woman is about to have Cordelia's eyes cut out, Angel and Wesley come to the rescue. At the end of the day, it appears that Wesley will be joining Angel's demon-fighting firm.WHAT INSULTED CORDELIA MOST ABOUT HER AUCTION:He started the bidding at a paltry $2,000. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE: He's a good cook for someone on a liquid diet. --Cordelia NOTE: Wesley shares that Faith is still in a comma. NEXT WEEK: rerun? December 7, 1999RerunNovemberNovember 30, 1999Ddin't watch itNovember 23, 1999This was the best episode of Buffy or Angel all season long. By the end, tears were streaming down my eyes as that weepy thematic music (from when Buffy has to kill Angel) played in the background. So it's the day after Angel has just visited Buffy. In walks Buffy. The two talk. Buffy wonders why Angel didn't share his presence in Sunnydale. She says that she found it rude, but that they should keep their agreement to not see each other anymore even though I can so tell that they're so still in love. She's leaving the office when a demon attacks them. No one wins the battle, and the demon runs away. Buffy and Angel split up to find the demon. Angel finds the demon first. The demon cuts Angel's hand and then Angel cuts the demon. Demon runs away but first some of the demon's blood spills into Angel's wound. Angel groans and then screams, "I'm alive." He has a heartbeat and is vulnerable. He goes out in the sunlight and eats like a pig. Angel wonders how this happened. Apparently, the demon Angel killed has regenerative powers that brought Angel back to life. Angel isn't sure if this is possible. Could "the powers that be" (some sort of group that controls the underground, maybe?) have allowed this? Angel goes to "the Oracles" to find out. The Oracles are two higher beings whose bodies are gold that are in contact with the powers that be. (Apparently, Joss Whedon is expanding the vampire mythology.) The Oracles tell Angel that he is human now even though the powers that be did not authorize this living Angel. Angel then goes to tell Buffy. The two fall in love and have sex. They are wild with each other and are having the times of their lives (I use that last word literally). The two go to bed, and Doyle comes by and wakes up Angel. The demon is still alive and wants to kill. Angel goes to find the demon without Buffy. Angel is getting beat by the demon big time when Buffy shows up (she woke up in the night and saw that Angel was gone and then found out from Cordelia where Angel was). Buffy fights the demon and with some help from Angel kills the demon. Before the demon is killed, the demon shares that the demon problem has only begun. Angel goes to the Oracles to find out about this prediction. Angel learns that Buffy and possibly all of humanity will die in the near future. Angel realizes that he has to fight the powers of evil to protect Buffy. He asks to become a vampire with a soul again. The Oracles say he can if he is willing to erase the past day...that is all of the good times with Buffy. Angel, but not Buffy, will remember the day. Angel agrees. He goes to see Buffy one last time as a human. They have five minutes to be near each other, and it is so sad, and I cry here. The two love each other more than anything but can't be together. All of a sudden, it is the previous day when Buffy has just entered Angel's office (like in the beginning of the episode). Buffy says that they should keep their agreement to keep their distance and then the demon attacks. This time Angel knows how to kill the demon. He kills the demon and then Buffy leaves. How sad is this?!QUOTE OF THE EPISODE: I'm good for two things: international superstardom or helping a vampire with a soul to rid the world of evil. That makes for a short but colorful resume. --Cordelia on her talents QUOTE #2: The Buffy and Angel Show: First, they talk out their differences and then they punch them out. --Cordelia when she overhears a fight in Angel's office NEXT WEEK: An army of demons attacks LA. Cordelia wonders if they can pay their bill. November 16, 1999Ddin't watch itNovember 9, 1999Anybody who knows me understand my fascination with television. Let me correct that. These people don't understand why I'm obsessed with TV, but they do realize that I am obsessed with TV. However, "Angel" has no charm. I do love Charisma Carpenter, but not even she can make me sit through this show. The acting is non-existent. Angel's brooding is tiresome. Angel's cop friend Kate is obnoxious. The scenes are drawn out. The action is missing. I can no longer watch this show. To those of you who rely on me for info about this show: I apologize; however, I feel even more sorry for you, because you like this show.November 2, 1999If it weren't for a very special lady named Cordelia Chase, I would no longer be watching this show. The events were not at all interesting this week. It was just visual eye candy. First, we learn that Doyle owes some money to a demon. The demon wants to kill Doyle because Doyle can't pay. Angel steps in and hurts the demon, but I doubt that this is over. Apparently, Doyle has a secret life that he's not telling anyone about. Future developments as the series progresses. The other story this week involved Cordelia. She is on the hunt for a new home and the new apartment that she finds is perfect, except for one thing...it's haunted. In short, the haunting happened a long time ago when a boy wanted to marry a girl that his mother didn't approve of. The mother killed her son by building a wall around him and letting him suffocate. She then died of a broken heart, having killed her own child. The woman than haunted all other girls that lived in this apartment, because she mixed up those girls with the girls that caused her to kill her own son. Cordelia tore down the wall which led to the boy ridding the house of his mother, but the boy is still in the house as a ghost...I suppose that he is Cordelia's roommate.BEST LINE TO A GHOST: I'm from Sunnydale; you're not scaring me. - -Cordelia QUOTE OF THE EPISODE: You have mousse? Of course you do. -- Cordelia to Angel NEXT WEEK: "Compassion turns deadly on an all new Angel" -- does this actually tell me about next week's episode? OctoberOctober 26, 1999So Doyle has this vision that a girl named Melissa needs help. Angel introduces himself as an investigator who will help anyone. She calls him a few days later and tells him that she needs help. This doctor that helped save her vision is now stalking her. The doctor, Ronald, knows things that no one can know...like the fact that she was in a bathroom by herself at a certain time taking a pill. We, the audience, know that he somehow separates one of his eyes from his body, and it can see her from afar. He has these weird abilities to displace his body parts from his body and do weird things with them like spy on people. Angel finds out about this man in part from his female, police friend, Kate and in part from research that he gets when he sneaks into this man's office. Then Melissa finds out about Ronald's power when he enters her house and kills a police officer that was trying to protect her. Angel pretends to be a client for Ronald and asks his help. Ronald calls Angel over to his office late one night (the procedure Angel wants done is a bit sketchy) and attacks Angel. Ronald knows that Angel has some connection to Melissa. He doesn't like that. He leaves Angel for dead and then transports himself over to Melissa. He's ready to have Melissa all too himself when Angel appears. Surprise of surprises...Angel isn't dead. Angel then kills Ronald. Yeah! The next day Melissa stops by to pay Angel because he's a private investigator and we're happy that Angel can "save the damsel in distress and make money at the same time."QUOTE OF THE EPISODE: I mean, this is so sad. This poor girl should be able to call home and say, "Mom, I met a doctor," not "Mom, I met a psycho." -- Cordelia NEXT WEEK: Cordelia moves into a new apartment...too bad it's a haunted apartment. October 19, 1999Could this have been the first good episode of Angel? I will say that the show barely contained a crossover. Oz showed up to give Angel the Gem of Amarra (see Buffy). After getting the ring, Spike comes and captures Angel, but Angel has already hidden the ring. Spike has this special torturer torture Angel, but Angel won't tell where the ring is. Spike then goes to see Cordelia and Doyle. They go and find the ring. They show up at Spike's and a trade is planned. Just as they go for the trade, Cordelia throws the ring aside and a van with Oz in it comes through the wall. Angel and gang escape. Spike is without ring, but the guy who was torturing Angel has the ring. Angel finds him and in a passionate fight that takes place in the daylight (Angel caught on fire and then jumped in water to cool down and the other guy was wearing the ring that made him invincible), Angel wins back the ring. Yeah, Angel! He hangs out by the beach and is in the sun and watches the sunset and then destroys the ring. He realizes that if he is in the sun that he might lose perspective of the dark souls that need his help.WHAT ANGEL WANTS MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE: Forgiveness NEXT WEEK: Angel helps a woman who is being haunted by a man that can contort his body in more than freaky ways October 12, 1999Sadly this show appears to already be in a rut. Doyle has a vision, Angel figures the vision out, helps whoever he needs to, problem solved. Doyle has a vision of a cheesy looking bar from the '80s. They all go and find it. It turns out that a number of people have last been seen at this bar. Angel goes on the hunt for the killer. While at the bar, he meets a girl who he leaves the place with. Her name is Kate and it turns out that she's a cop who searching for the "thing" that Angel is after. Only Kate thinks that Angel is the "thing." He escapes from her. In the end, the two unite to beat the evil force. Kate will probably become a semi-regular. Also of news to the episode: Doyle has a little crush on Cordelia so he's scared to tell her that he's a demon.QUOTE OF THE EPISODE:In high school, dating was easier. We all had something in common, like being monster food. --Cordelia NEXT WEEK: A Buffy-Angel crossover with an appearance by Spike...it all "starts at sunset and goes into daylight." |
