Bombays, Ventura 10.13.01 "Check him out!" What an exciting & energetic experience to see...John Boutin of Gwenmars on the drums. Practically exploding the skins right off the set, John Boutin controlled the attention of the audience using every bit of sweat & strength to powerfully deliver an unforgettable show! Complete passion throughout! A quick rendition of "Blender", still vibrates in my ears!
Mike & Matt politely relaxed their chords as John had the floor. Eager fans expressed their interest in favor of what was being heard, "Go John," "Yahoo, John!" Drummer John Boutin - a beautiful & dramatic representation of what excellence can sound like! 100 Miles one way & well worth the drive. John, Mike & Matt of Gwenmars are absolutely gifted and should not be missed.

a progressive, modern rhythm. Gwenmars delivers a non-stop heart-racing journey that you don’t want to miss. Gwenmars has added pure greatness to the music scene selling out clubs and venues around the states and making their way through Europe. They perform many in-concert favorites such as ‘Neon Tom’ ‘Strawberry Ice’ and ‘The Train Song’ from their critically acclaimed album Driving a Million, as well as some popular songs from their ultra vast, self titled EP Gwenmars, such as ‘Big Wheel’ and the dynamic ‘Blender’. Their creative set up of bubble machines and flashy lights add an enchanting, energy filled vibe. The intense, epic detail makes its way through perfectly!

A creative mix of pop/rock, electro-melodic/post-modern sounds. The unique and
catchy style of Gwenmars quickly illustrates a contrast world of desire. Gwenmars’ album Driving a Million is masterful work all created by drummer John Boutin's extreme rhythmic thud, singer/song writer/lead guitarist Mike Thrasher's electrical jolt and bassist Matt Westfield's deep lashing. Together they bring a vibrance to the music industry-- A complete pulsing ride! Curious lyrics and Mike Thrasher's voice hold the attention of anyone with good taste. Quickly becoming the default CD in your player, Driving a Million is fascinating with sexy themes of something not exactly ordinary or familiar yet an inspiration for ones image or trend.

Gwenmars, one word or purhaps two, suddenly became a part of everyone's vocabulary after the fascinating show on Friday October 26 2k1 at Spaceland, LA. The energetic trio magically poured their energy into the crowd before them and it lit up the house. John Boutin's powerful beats and incredible speed met Mike Thrasher's and Matt Westfield's precise notes resulting in a tight set.
Everyone remembers a time when they drove a distance to see a show and left with nothing. Well, that's not the case now. "The best show yet!" was heard all throughout the crowd. Mike, Matt and John made their way around the venue in a calm and excited manner to meet and say hello to all thier fans and make them feel important. Talking with the band before the show is a great experience and makes the drive worth while.
Delivering a great show, not only comes from the massive talent of the bands ability to handle their instruments but also from the curious and powerful songs. Many favorites played such as 'Train Song', 'Strawberry Ice', 'Neon Tom', 'Big Wheel', 'Battery' and can't forget the ultimate 'Blender'. Hearing 'Blender' at this show was a great ending to a not so great week. The sound was superb that night and rocked the house. Every song was delivered with the most passion and all the right stuff sounding even better than the CD recording.
If you have missed this particular show, I've said it before, you have serioulsy missed out on
the best live performance yet. ( we have not reviewed every show)
We at Plug-Media wish Gwenmars good luck on thier second European Tour and a safe return home. Thanks again!

After nearly two months of waiting, Gwenmars went at it again on Saturday, August 4th at Bombay’s Bar and Grill in Ventura. It was well worth the drive since we are based in South Orange County.
It was a fantastic experience and a great privilege to be up front and personal with the band. For those of you who have not seen Gwenmars, you don’t know what you are missing. This is a band of such rarity, that it was like striking gold when we first heard them open up for Gary Numan back in May. They amazed us.
Once 10 pm came, Gwenmars took the stage. Opening up with ‘Venus,’ one of my personal favorites, the tightly packed venue filled with energy and the audience immediately found the beat and began bobbing up and down.
It is truly amazing watching Gwenmars perform up close, because you get a chance to see the most exciting feature of any band performing live...their facial expressions. Mike Thrasher’s abilities seem to be like no other, being able to sing the way that he does and change the many different pedals below him without even looking. He is quite an expert with his equipment. Then you have Matt Westfield who is so comfortable on stage as if he is in a trance plucking away at those bass strings. Finally, drummer John Boutin. The next time you watch Gwenmars live, keep your eyes on John. The way he plays those drums and barely ever opens his eyes, yet delivers an amazing drum beat is incredible. The expressions on his face show his heart and soul as if he is one with his drum set.
This was, as always, a fabulous show. I would like to thank the band for making my night and everybody else’s for that matter a great one. The only thing that I would have changed about the Ventura show, is to see them play a larger venue.
