Chapter 4: That's A Lot Of Someones

"Whew, that was tiring," Lindsay commented after they all arrived back at her home. She went into the kitchen, looking for something to drink.

"Yeah," Lance agreed, following her into the kitchen. Justin sat limply on her couch, his tie loosened and the first couple of buttons on his dress shirt unbuttoned.

"Could you get that, Justin?" Lindsay called from the kitchen, hearing the phone ring.

"Sure!" he called back, picking up the phone. "Hello?"

"Is this Lindy's home?" A confused voice asked.

"Yeah. Who's calling?"

"It's her sister, Sydney."

"You don't even recognize my voice, Syd?"

"Justin?"

"Yeah."

"What are you doing there?"

"I'm spending the night here. Why?"

"Oh. Could you ask Lindy if it's alright if I stay at her house, that is, if she has room?" Sydney asked him politely.

"Sure. Hey Lindy! Sydney wants to know if she can stay here, that is, if you have room!"

"Tell her to come on over! She can stay in the library."

"Alright. Lindy said you can stay in the library." Justin told her. "How come you're not staying at your parents' home?"

"That, Mr. Timberlake, is none of your business." Sydney said jokingly.

"Well what if I wanted to make it my business?" he retorted, smiling.

"Uh, I have to go, I'd better be heading over. See you in a couple of minutes." She said, hanging up abruptly. Justin smiled smugly to himself as he put the phone down. He soon fell asleep on the couch, still wearing his formal wear.

The doorbell rang, and Justin got up to answer it first. A flushed Sydney stood behind the door, smiling. She had long since changed into a pair of khakis and a T-shirt. She eyed Justin, who had just woken up.

"Hey," He told her, moving aside to let her in.

"Hi. Lindy! I'm here!" She called loudly. Justin cringed

"You sure like to be announced when you arrive somewhere, don't you?" Justin asked.

"Yeah," She answered. "Could you bring my bags in? I mean, that is, if you think you're strong enough to do it."

"Strong enough?" Justin scoffed, "of course I can do it."

"Hey Syd," Lindy greeted her. "Martin stalking you again?"

"You wouldn’t believe it," Sydney told her, "I had to sneak out the back door before he found me."

"Who's this Martin?" Lance asked, sitting on the couch.

"The guy who's madly in love with Sydney." Lindsay teased.

Sydney made a face, "ugh, I know that's the most infuriating part!" She looked out the window, seeing Justin struggling to pull her biggest suitcase out of her trunk. She opened the front door. "C'mon, let's move it!" She called out.

"Shut up!" Justin grunted. Sydney laughed and went into the library.

Peace and quiet, at last, Justin thought, a smile forming on his face as he lay on the bed in one of Lindsay's guestrooms. It had been a long time since he'd gone to sleep in a bed without hearing the rumble of the bus or Chris' snoring. The peaceful silence was broken by the strains of rock music floating in from the next room.

Justin sat up, annoyed. He recognized the song as 'Break Stuff' by Limp Bizkit. Mumbling to himself, he got up and knocked on the library door.

"Yes?" Sydney asked innocently, opening the door.

"Turn that down!" Justin hissed demandingly. She raised an eyebrow.

"Well isn't Mr. Prettyboy a bit demanding." She was annoyed. Who did this guy think he was, coming and demanding that she turn down her stereo? A simple please would have helped.

"Listen, it's late and I'm trying to get some sleep. So turn that music down!"

"Well, I hate to break it to you, but you're going to have to listen to the music now," She told him, slamming the door in his face.

"Sleep well?" Lance inquired, studying Justin's haggard appearance the next morning. He sat at the breakfast table, holding a newspaper in front of him, looking well rested.

"Not really." He muttered, opening the refrigerator.

"Mornin' everyone!" Sydney sang, floating into the kitchen. "Everyone get a good sleep last night?" She eyed Justin, the subtly upturned corners of her mouth told him that the question was directed at him.

"No, someone's music was too loud and they wouldn't turn it down."

"Well, that someone would have turned the music down if the other someone had asked instead of demanding!"

"Woah, cool it you two," Lance said, eyeing both of them. "That's a lot of someone's. How about you two take it outside so you don't wake Lindsay or the rest of the guys?"

"Forget this," Justin muttered, stalking out of the kitchen.
