Chapter 2: Jealous? I'm Not Jealous!

"You got us dates for dinner? With N Sync?" Jessica asked, amused. It was nearly seven at the three of them would be heading down to the lobby soon.

"Hey, they invited us and I couldn't say no because I almost killed one of them with my soda!" Marielle answered.

"Ahh, so you got guilted into going with them and taking us with you," Gabrielle amended.

"So you two don't want to go?" Ari asked them.

"Of course we do!" Gabi answered, grinning, "we get to have dinner with some cute guys. In Paris!"

"Don't worry, I know for a fact that two of them are," Marielle told them, grinning as she thought of the dark headed guy who had asked her to go to dinner with them.

"Aha! You like one of them!" Jessica said, recognizing the look on Marielle's face.

"I do not!" Marielle replied indignantly. "I've only talked to the for five minutes!"

"That's all it takes!" Gabrielle added.

"Maybe for you." Jessica said, smirking as Marielle hooted with laughter. They both dodged Gabrielle's hits and ran out of the hotel room to the lobby to get away from her.

* * * * *

JC raised an eyebrow when he saw a confused looking girl pass by him. She was obviously looking for someone, but stepped outside to the front of the hotel. The small elevator to his left made a ping sound as it opened and the girl from earlier popped her head out, along with another girl.

Marielle recognized JC immediately, "is she out there?" She hissed at him, glancing around her.

JC almost laughed, "who?"

"Did a girl just pass through here looking for someone?" Marielle's companion asked him.

"Uhh, yeah she went outside though." Both girls began to laugh like crazy as they stumbled out of the small elevator.

"She was looking for us." Marielle explained, the realized how strange the two of them looked. Composing herself, she smiled at him, "I don't believe I caught your name? Mine's Marielle."

"Josh. Most people just call me JC." He said, grinning at her.

"I'm Jessica, and most people just call me Jess." Jessica added.

"There you guys are!" Gabrielle said, sighing. "you made me go outside to look for you."

"We almost got stuck in that damn elevator," Jessica informed her, pointing her thumb towards the elevator doors.

"Where are the rest of your friends?" Marielle asked JC.

"Oh, they're still upstairs. Should be down in a couple of minutes," he told her, and sure enough the other four members of N Sync came down the spiral stairs. After all the introductions and greetings took place they had to decide where to eat.

"There's a couple of restaurants down the street," Chris offered.

"Yeah, let's go see what's there!" Gabrielle added, and they all set out, walking in twos because of the narrow sidewalks.

"You girls here on vacation?" JC asked Marielle, the two of them in the back.

"Yep. What are you guys doing here?" She asked, "don't you all have a big tour or something back in the states?"

"Yeah, we're just taking a break here, plus we get to see some old friends and stuff. The rest of the tour restarts in a couple of weeks."

"Oh." She answered. "I know it seems sort of rude to ask this now, but do you guys have girlfriends? I wouldn't want to make anyone here jealous or hurt."

He nodded in understanding. "Actually, I'm the only one who's really seriously involved with anyone." He told her. Marielle nodded, but couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. "She's a model."

"Oh, that's neat." She replied. Figures it'd be a model, She thought then shook her head, thinking she was incredibly stupid to feel jealous of someone she had never met. Now she wondered why JC had invited her to dinner with them.

"Any of you girls 'involved'?" JC asked her. He wondered if he had just imagined her disappointment.

"Well, I'm not," Marielle told him, then grinned. "I just haven't found that right guy yet. Jess has a guy back home, but I'm not sure how serious the two of them are."

"I hope JC knows what he's doing." Lance muttered to Justin. Gabrielle, who had been walking next to them, looked at him in confusion.

"What do you mean?" Lance was surprised she'd heard him.

"Oh, it's just he has a girlfriend and everything." He told her.

"Really? I doubt Marielle would infringe on what belongs to someone else," Gabrielle told him with a shrug, "she's not like that."

"That's good. What about you? You have a boyfriend?" Lance asked her, feeling a bit daring at the moment.

Gabrielle blushed slightly. "Nope. I'm single, couldn't really find time for a boyfriend while I was in college. What about you?"

"Jan and I broke up a month ago," Lance told her, wincing inside at the mention of his ex-girlfriend.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Gabrielle answered politely, although she wasn't really.

"You don't have to be. I'm not," Lance said, extending his arm to her as the two of them continued on with the rest of the group.
