Looking north across Lei Yu Men
Friday – 16-Feb-01
My day to give a presentation, things went well. Shuttle Bus from work to MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui & the hotel.
Found myself walking the streets alone. I ended up at a Korean Barbecue Buffet, on Canton Road, 88 HKD per person, worth it.
Went to Ferry terminal to buy in advance my Macau ticket for Sunday since I had heard they sell out.
As usual, white men get offered fake rolexes or suits by Indian men before 11PM. After 11pm it’s the working ladies offering “massaggee” or “borujobu” (she had to repeat it several times for me to understand what she was trying to say) They do not appear to be Hong Kong-ers but most claim to be. One of them actually was to have gotten off the elevator I was about to get on at the ground floor, and stayed on and handed me a colored business card with her name & GSM number! (I declined, but kept the card, got off on a floor that wasn’t mine, just in case, and let her go back down). One street walker on Nathan road claimed to be from Shanghai, when I spoke Chinese to her she turned and left quickly! I really hate this part of business travel. I might have had to beat off 4 or 5 girls this trip (they can spot a white man walking alone at hight from 100 yds!) But it was the damn Indians who were really annoying, musta had 30 of them try to sell me stuff. The other bad ones are the “greeters” who stand in front of the girly bars trying to get white guys to come inside! “No cover, no minimum, pretty girls, come look!” musta had to dodge 15 of them.
