Objectives

The prime aim of starting the institution is to offer Christian value-based education of excellence.

Dr. G. U Pope (24.04.1820--11.02.1908)

The college is named after a great savant of Tamil Literature Dr. G.U. Pope, who prided in calling himself a Tamil scholar. He was responsible for popularizing the glory and richness of Tamil Literature and revealing to the world the wealth of thought in it by translating the classical works like Thirukkural, Naladiar, Manimekalai and Thiruvasagam. He was in Sawyerpuram during the years 1842 - 1849 serving the poor people by starting an educational institution as well as a seminary.

Motto

“Vel primus vel cum primis” is the motto of all the institutions named after Dr. G.U. Pope, as they are his very words. It means, “Be first, or be with the first.”

Funds

The institution has the inexhaustible fund of good-will and good wishes of the people of the area who deeply believe in the riches of the ever-providing Almighty Jesus Christ.

Contributions are solicited from the well-wishers of the college.
