A Night To Remember

The first time I participated in the volunteers orientation program on the 6 - 7 September 1997 @ Telecom Training Center, Kuala Lumpur, I knew I'm up to it. And indeed it is! It is then called Nadi 98.

I'm proud to showcase you surfers out there the glory moment of all the CG98 volunteers that I've got to known. Proudly to say, we are the GMS Transport IT Volunteers. 

We managed and coordinates feeder buses, taxis, MPVs & flights for all the officials and athletes. We are based in multi locations observing the games transport system.  Among the locations are: 

  • International Zone - Games Village (IZ, GV) / Transport Operating Center (TOC)
  • Stadium Negara
  • Bukit Kiara Intan
  • International Broadcast Center (IBC)
  • Palace Of Golden Horses
  • Mint Hotel
  • Pearl International Hotel

What is the Commonwealth Games?
Known as the British Empire Games then, began in 1930 at Hamilton, Canada. It is held every four years for 10 days and is the second largest multi-sports festival after the Olympic Games.

How many athletes will be participating?
More than 6,000 athletes and team officials.

How many sports are there?
A total of 15 types of sports comprising 11 individual sports and four team sports with 70 nations participating.
