Special Events:
The Prairie Stitchers EGA 2nd Annual Stitching Retreat was held June 8-10, 2001 at the Thunderstik Lodge (renamed for the weekend to ThunderSTITCH Lodge) in Chamberlain, SD. It was a wonderful weekend filled with good food, good friends, great hospitality and stitching, Stitching and more STITCHING! The surroundings were, as always, lovely! Thunderstik Lodge overlooks the Missouri River and is wrapped by a deck was a wonderful place to stitch, enjoy the view and soak in the hot tub!

And, did we mention the food?? Our hosts, Nova & Randy Niewenhuis, treated us royally with delicious meals and personal attention. We enjoyed evening meals on Friday and Saturday as well as a lunch on Saturday. The breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday were provided by those attending -- a delicious variety of coffeecakes, fruit, breads and beverages.

And, here's Saturday night's feast -- fit for a Queen!! Pork chops, asparagus and twice-baked potatoes |
And, that's not all!! This banana-cream pie was waiting (or is it 'weighting') for us for dessert! |
A video from the EGA National Library, "The Eighteenth Century Woman" by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was shown. AND, on Saturday, we stitched a project, "Captured Heart" by Judy Dixon. It is a delightful piece that features some fun stitches and the use of silk and metallic fibers.
