OS 10.3 (Panther) report Posted on January 20, 2004 Mac OS 10.3 (hereafter referred to as Panther in this report) is a great improvement over 10.2 (Jaguar). Several problems have been fixed and some very useful new features have been added. In the user interface department, though, Panther has gone further backwards from Jaguar, continuing a disappointing trend in Apple's design sensibilities. However, unless you're a stubborn purist, you'll be able to put up with it and get your work done with a minimum of grumbling. This report is supplemental to the previous report on Jaguar and focuses on issues specific to this version; to get a more complete overview of OS X, you may want to read both reports (as well as the links listed below). Please see the navigation section to the left for this report's section headers. Other links The information in this report is quick and selective. For an excellent general overview of Panther, check out Mark Pilgrim's What's New in Panther. Another excellent review of Panther from John Siracusa. Changes Jan. 22, 2004: Added new points (newest at the top) to the Finder and Applications pages.
