One so small and innocent
tamed a centuries-old demon.
A tiny touch from vulnerable flesh
inspired a love like no other.
My empty arms ache for you.
Your scent still lingers in a charred crib.

Enemies from within have betrayed us.
Anger and rage well within unchecked.
Forgiveness seems unfathomable impossible.
Tears of blood flow
as I rock rock away
the sorrow emptiness and pain.
No peace can be gained without you.

Never before have the still chambers
echoed with such longing.
Moving forward with this burden
ladens my journey to redemption.
Day by day; hour by hour; minute by minute
I am reminded of your absence.
I await your return and pray for
your forgiveness for my failure.
