  • Wrestler Information
    Style: Strong Style Workhorse
Theme Music: "You (Not Me)" by Dream Theater
    Height: 5'10"
    Weight: 221 lbs
    Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
Finishing Move: Murder Death Kill 2004 (Ki Krusher)
    Setup Moves: N/A
Signature Moves: The Suicide Solution - Borders hooks the opponents head as if he were going for a three quarter neckbreaker. Then charging forwards, and still maintaining his hold on the head, Borders runs up the ropes and pushes off the top rope, flipping up and over. As Borders sails in a backflip over the opponents head, he changes his grip and drives them into the canvas with an Inverted DDT. (Sliced Bread #2)

The Splattergoit - With an opponent laid out in the middle of the ring, Borders ascends to the top and leaps off with a frog splash. As he comes sailing down, he turns to his side a bit and lands a powerful elbow drop.

The Circle of Chaos (aka The Multiple Personality Disorder) - This is a series of three rolling suplexes, varied to catch the opponent off guard, then final being held for a bridging pin. One week he could go German Suplex, Tiger Suplex, Dragon Suplex - and the following week it will be Tiger Suplex, German Suplex, and Exploder Suplex - and yet the next week German Suplex, Exploder Suplex, and back to the German Suplex.

The PSYCHO-analysis (Submission) - This is a variation of The Gory Guerrero Special. Borders picks the opponent up for a vertical backbreaker, and lets them slide down his back, so that their feet get hooked on his thighs. From there he works his fingers underneath their jaw and bends forward, stretching them while driving his fingertips into pressure points of the neck. It doesn't last long before they call for the submission.

Sunset Flip - I know what you're thinking. The Sunset Flip as a trademark move? It isn't so much the fact that he executes the move, but how he does so. He normally catches the opponent with the sunset flip to the point where Borders is upside down and perpendicular to the canvas. At this point there is a brief hesitation in the move. A few seconds later, Borders finishes the flip, snapping through with such speed that it almost seems like they reverse positions in midair - his opponent landing hard on the canvas in a powerbomb like fashion. Wrestler Description: There are two sides to this most interesting individual named Shaun Borders. He has two distinct personalities that have earned him a well deserved nickname of "Schitzo" in past wrestling leagues.

One side is that of a raving lunatic, a man who knows no fear, a man who backs down from nobody, a man who will walk through hell and back to get what he wants. Psychotic, hardcore, and bloodthirsty are just a few of the words that can be used to describe this personality that he affectionately calls "Burraku."

The other personality is that of a thinking man's man, a technical aerial wrestling wizard and a man with knowledge far beyond his young 27 years. When in "Byakuren mode" he could carry on the most intellectual conversations, even if his opinions seem a bit skewed and varied at times. The danger point lies in the fact that there is no trigger point between Byakuren and Burraku. Without warning, in just a moments notice, he can snap from his intellectual side, to his compulsive side - making him an extremely dangerous individual.

Another unfortunate flaw in all of this is that he too can not harness which personality can come through. He could be Burraku for just a week, while it may also remain for months at a time. As a result sometimes he can get himself in deep water, and then not be ready to back it up when the time approaches.

When wrestling under his Byakuren side, Borders most closely resembles the stiff, hard-hitting, and yet high flying style of a martial artist. Each shot well calculated, each shot delivered with deadly intent.

When consumed in the world of chaos, his Burraku side, he leans more towards the style of a suicidal aerialist - having no regards for his nor his opponents bodies. It's a win at all costs type attitude.

Whether working as a face, or as heel - Borders is the type that trives on the reaction he gets from the fans. Be it the ooohs and aaaahs of his aerial wizardry and stiff as hell in ring style .. or the constant jeering he gets when jawjacking with the crowd both on his way to the ring aaand during the match.

This past year, Borders has revamped his look a bit. While he once had closely cropped blonde hair, it has all not been sheared off to give him a shimmering scalp. His multi-colored goatee remains, but has grown out a bit and is forked in two silver points. Add to that the icy cold stare, that at times appears vacant and sinister .. and you have the makings of "The Better Man."

During his time in Japan, Borders spent a couple of hours on a tattoo artist's table, getting various depictions of skulls, zombies, and demons on his body. The centerpiece of his collection is a tattoo of The Norwegian God of Mischief - Loki, that appears at the base of his neck, with his arms outreached and wrapping around to embrace him. Symbolism? What do YOU think?

The artist formerly known as "Schitzo" has two metal bars through his left eyebrow, a black tongue ring, and a thick silver hoop that loops through the cartilage in his ear. His arms are covered in scar tissue from his brief stint in a "garbage" wrestling promotion in Japan - a time in his life that Borders enjoyed quite a bit. But that is another story, for another day.

Under his current persona, Borders has adopted a look that one would associate with a kick box / MMA fighter. He wears baggy knee length tights which are primarily royal blue, with silver flames erupting upwards from the lower leg area. His hands are heavily taped with white athletic tape, and stripes of silver around the wrists. Likewise his feet are bare, save the silver and white tape that surrounds his lower calves and ankles. This barefoot approach actually helps Borders move much quicker around the squared circle.
Entrance Description: When making his entrance into the arena, he wears a three quarter length royal blue hooded robe, that has both silver trim and "MDK" written across the back in the silver flames. It has a tie around the waist, but Borders normally leaves it untied to show off his sculpted abs. From time to time, he also pulls out a royal bandana that matches his flame theme .. and silver and black sunglasses. Depends on the mood really (or if I remember to include this detail in my strat)
History: Shaun Borders was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. His mother passed away at an early age, the result of a drunk driving accident, and Shaun had to be raised by his workaholic father. His father, Glenn Borders, rarely found time for his son as he was busy running a second generation, family owned lumber yard. As a result Shaun spent Sunday afternoons hanging out down at the local armory, where The Lone Star Wrestling Alliance (LSWA) held it's shows.

Religiously Shaun bought his seats near the entrance-way, so that he could catch a glimpse of his favorite superstars - from Tex Avery, to Dr. Maxwell Force, to his ultimate favorite, and the unofficial father of hardcore wrestling in Texas - The Crimson Masque. Week after week, month after month, year after year these LSWA shows became Borders way of escaping reality. He religiously attended the shows, watching every move, hanging on every word. There was no question that the wrestling bug bit him. His enthusiasm was something that was not only picked up by the wrestlers, but also by the promoter Louis "Long Horn" Laramee.

At the age of 15, following a show, Laramee approached Borders and asked him what he thought of the wrestling. The conversation progressed, and before he knew it Shaun was attending the shows in a different fashion - as part of the ring crew. Ring up, ring down, ring up, ring down - week after week, month after month. Shaun could not believe that he was actually part of a wrestlingpromotion.

One Sunday afternoon, Shaun and the crew had finished getting the ring done a bit early, and were inside messing around, when Tex Avery, arguably the top face in all of Texas wrestling, approached them and decided to teach them a few holds. Headlocks, lock-ups, armdrags - it was a dream come true. Before Shaun knew what hit him, he was becoming a pretty decent student of the game. Even more excited was the fact that he knew his own personal hero would soon be returning to town - The Crimson Masque.

Now before we move on, there are some facts that should be laid out on the table. Tex Avery was an old school veteran, and having him even acknowledge you would be considered an honor. Secondly Tex Avery HATED hardcore wrestling. He felt that barbed wire matches, and Texas Death Matches were reserved for people with limited skill. And finally it ate him up inside that his own student, Shaun Borders, would hold a "no talent" like The Crimson Masque in such high esteem. With all this in mind, Tex decided to teach Shaun a lesson and pulled some strings to get Shaun the officials job in the Main Event that evening - Tex Avery vs. The Crimson Masque.

What could Shaun think? Here he was refereeing a match between his mentor Tex Avery, and his idol The Crimson Masque. Sure he understood the politics of wrestling, but he really wasn't aware of the animosity between the two men, and Tex planned on turning The Crimson Masque into a Crimson Ass, in front of his number one fan. Now Tex being the brash, loudmouth veteran was bragging about his intents earlier in the night - and word got back to The Masque. Come show time, things went drastically wrong. Two minutes into the match, The Crimson Masque delivered an intentionally stuffed piledriver, that crushed the neck of Tex Avery to the point that he wrestled only a month or two after that.

Now "shooting" as it is called is not that uncommon in the independent wrestling scene, unfortunately - especially when two massive egos, the size of Tex Avery's and The Crimson Masque's collide. That was the strange fact. The strange thing was, that as Tex Avery lied there on the canvas being tended to by paramedics, his protégé was kneeling a few feet away from him...smiling. It was almost as though he took pleasure in seeing his idol injure the man who trained him. As Tex was taken through the locker room towards the ambulance, the final thing he saw was Shaun talking with The Masque and actually mocking the piledriver that did him in. Needless to say Shaun Borders and The Crimson Masque would never be heard of around LSWA again.

From there the road got a little more difficult, as Shaun went to various independents to help out The Crimson Masque. He would carry his bag, and in return Shaun would get to officiate Crimson Masque matches, and when room was available, got to work matches on the undercard. It was during this time in his life that not only did he fine tune his skill, but he also got called by a Midwestern Wrestling Promotion - River City Wrestling.

Upon signing with River City Wrestling he was given the role of a sidekick to runaway heel in the promotion, "Excessive Force" Eric Vanguard. His name was "Schitzo" and he was designed as a "Master of Disguise," even impersonating a doctor to help Vanguard get out of a series of matches. All in all he found his experience in River City Wrestling to be fun, because not only did he get to work with other big name stars like "Mr. Excitement" Alex Extreme, "Trendy" Bryce Jordan, and "Too Cool" Chris Hopper. But he also got to witness some of the most brutal wrestling he's come across, including a disgusting display known as "The Desert Hell Death Match" between Carson Nash and JD Laredo.

Eventually his gimmick became too much for him, and he decided that instead of being a character he wanted to be himself. He did some calling around, and soon found himself on his way to The Land of The Rising Sun, to join a promotion known as ILL-Japan. This was more of a technical based promotion, but it's Lucha-Libre like style helped Shaun develop himself even more, actually putting on continuously impressive showings. He stayed with the promotion for a few months until it was eventually forced to close its doors.

Liking his brief experience in Japan, Borders decided to remain there and check out some of the other companies. It was at a KWA (Kamikaze Wrestling Association) show that he found his thirst for blood once again rekindled. While sitting in the front row, he laid witness to his first ever Exploding Ring Match between Japanese Favorite Ricki Yakasiji and a masked grappler named Malevolence. It was one of the goriest battles in the company's history, that involved thumbtacks, light tubes, barbed wire, C-4, and fire - in addition to the cage itself and the necessary detonations.

Immediately following the show he sought out the promoter, and not only offered to do that type of match for him - but said that he could do better. And while he has never gotten the opportunity to do so, he was by far one of the more lethal competitors in to walk through the crowd in KWA. The match that sealed his fate in The Japanese Promotion was an No-Ropes, Barbed Wire, Bed of Nails Death Match versus the companies favorite Kobu Karayashi. Living up to a nickname bestowed upon him by the Japanese Press "Nikuya" which translates to "Butcher" Borders pulled a meat cleaver during the match, and went to use it on Karayashi. Immediately Karayashi fled the ring and went to the promoter and insisted that Borders be released from the wrestling organization. The promoter met with Karayashi's request as The Kourekan Hall chanted "Bor-duro! Bor-duro! Bor-duro!"

So once again The Butcher, Schitzo, Shaun Borders was left without a job. Longing for the spirit of competition he made a trip back to The United States and re-signed with River City Wrestling as part of their floundering Light Heavyweight Division. In an attempt to revitalize the competition in the division, Borders was entered into a four man Skydevil Round Robin Tournament. It was during this time that he was also being scouted by UEW Spin-Off League The Elite Wrestling Alliance. Despite the distractions caused by the EWA, Borders managed to make it to the finals of The Skydevil Tournament - losing surprisingly quickly to future RCW Light Heavyweight Champion Vic Morrison.

It was during this time also that Borders decided to take EWA up on a lucrative offer and sign with them. During his short stint in The Elite Wrestling Alliance, Borders searched desperately for that niche - that personality inside him that fans could relate to. He attempted a "psychotic" tag team with "The Jester" Chad Allen ... he tried playing off the pompus prick... but found his greatest success as a challenger to EWA Television Champion - Rosco Riggins. Despite a few near misses, Borders was unable to get his hands on the gold before EWA closed it's doors.

His stay with EWA wasn't the highlight of his career, Borders definitely got a taste for wowwing the American people, and is definitely in search of an opportunity to do so in the future. Is this finally going to be the showcase - the stage that Borders is looking for? Only time will tell...
