Wrestler Description: John has a slightly stocky build but he has muscle defination. His upper arms and chest have some burn scars on them. Iley's attitude? Well, outside the ring, or even when he's not wrestling, he's an easy kind of guy. Like's a laugh, enjoys a beer, takes things easy. It's kind of a distraction since sometimes you can't tell when he's being serious or not. But in the ring wrestling, he's all business. He takes wrestling very seriously, he's the consumate professional, which is the way they are taught in England.
Entrance Description: Simply, "Crystal Planet" by Joe Satriani plays and after 20 seconds of build up, Iley walks out, with Leigh right by his side. He'll be wearing slightly loose khaki coloured combat style pants, black wrestling boots and a Newcastle United FC shirt. He acknowledges the fans by slapping hands and such like. Leigh will be wearing some sort of outfit that shows off her figure but is classy with it. Once in the ring Iley will salute the crowd at every corner, he'll then remove his shirt to reveal a wrestling leotard underneath. And waits in his corner streching, bouncing from one foot to the other preparing for the match.
History: Iley is a wrestler, plain and simple. He learned back in his hometown of Newcastle upon Tyne, England from the age of 16. By his 18th birthday he had his first match, wrestling infront of 250 people in his local leisure centre. From there John began his long journey in the world of pro wrestling. Winning the UK's light heavyweight title at 19 and representing England in a wrestling tournament which took place all over Europe, he finished 4th overall.
Returning from the tournament, John would continue to wrestle around England, earning small wages, just enough to cover his expenses (if he got paid that is, sometimes he ended up travelling to an arena and ending not being paid at all). He would also work as a bouncer on the doors of nightclubs around Newcastle, just to earn that little bit of extra cash.
He also wrestled in Japan and did a six month tour there. His time in England made him ready for the small crowds he would face over there. He found it an experience, toughening himself up more and also learning the STF which he started to use as a finisher (The Geordie Aggro).
After his time in Japan he returned to England, wrestling and working the doors of Newcastle nightclubs. Then during one of his nights wrestling, he was spotted by a agent for wrestlers in the US. Impressed by John's style he signed John up and took him to America. John continued his English style there, the crowd seemed to enjoy it as it was something they werent used to seeing. John ended up working for a federation known as the New York State Wrestling Federation (NYSWF) which was owned by PWG owner Corey Collins. John started off in the Academy of the NYSWF becoming their Junior Heavyweight champion (and held the title longer than anyone else) John wrestled in the main fed for just over 18 months until a back injury put him out of action. The injury was so bad John had to give up wrestling.
After some pioneering surgery his back healed and he returned to wrestle in the NYSWF, then shortly after his return the federation, the NYSWF closed. John then went to a couple of other federations and wrestled his last match in a fed run by Jonathon Collins, the mentor of PWG star Joshua Frampton. John's back injury came back to haunt him and he left, spending plenty of time in rehab and money on investments. His back finally recovered but John decided not to return to wrestling, instead he ended up living in Toronto, owning a string of clubs and bars. His time working the doors in England taught him how to run such a place and he's made plenty from it.
So why has he returned to a small federation? Simple. Corey Collins made him an offer and John accepted, deep down he's always loved wrestling and would never leave it without a just cause. Plus, he thinks wrestling could return to the glory days, and would even like to try and introduce the old English style to the US. And where better? Than in the fed which promotes pure wrestling, the PWG. It'll almost feel like home!
Manager's Name: Leigh Dominguez
Manager's Likeness: Trish Stratus
Manager's Description: Leigh Dominguez has been in her fair share of federations over the years, mostly wrestling, and having to fight her way through the ranks. But in Pro Wrestling Glory, is a new side of Dominguez. She comes to play, as the manager/girlfriend of superstar John Iley. The two met by chance at John's main nightclub, The Ritz in Toronto, not knowing they were both into the sport of wrestling, but that was their common keep together after the fact. They became the best of friends, and have been for well over a year. It wasn't until recently the two became an official item. Coming to PWG, Dominguez stands by her boyfriend Iley, as more than just a girlfriend, but an advisor and his manager, hoping to assist in his success in the federation.
