Background music is "When You Come Back To Me" by Jason Donovan, courtesy of CPR's MIDI Archives...

For the uninitiated, Jason Donovan is the son of Australian actor Terry Donovan... Jason was a teen heartthrob back in the late 80's, one of the most popular in Australia... he played nice boy Scott Robinson on the long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours, alongside Kylie Minogue... y'all might remember her U.S. pop hits "I Should Be So Lucky" and "The Loco-Motion"... anyway, Jason had a bit of a music career himself, one that was much more popular Down Under than over here... he and Kylie were both part of the Stock/Aitken/Waterman stable, with Rick Astley and a bunch of others... Jason mainly did covers of golden oldies, like "Sealed With A Kiss," "Rhythm Of The Rain," and "Happy Together," though SAW did write "When You Come Back To Me," "Nothing Can Divide Us," and "Too Many Broken Hearts" for him...

In 1991, Jason won the part of Joseph in a London production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and he had one of the last hits of his music career with "Any Dream Will Do"... unfortunately for Jason, his career faltered as he got older... Kylie was able to adopt a more adult image, but not Jason... people still expected him to be Scott Robinson-like... eventually, his reckless streak began to rear its very unsightly head... he confessed to using pot, even during his Neighbors days... he was pegged as gay when he was once spotted wearing a T-shirt that read, "Queer As F***" (but if he truly was, does it really matter?)... and I've even heard that he, like River Phoenix, has also passed out from drugs in front of L.A.'s Viper Room... such a tragedy...

More recently, Jason has been in a few more stage productions, including Australian and British productions of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, as Frank N. Furter... it is with the RHPS that Jason has found most of his more recent success, though he made a few half-assed nightclub appearances in Britain... he adamantly refuses to stop abusing drugs, despite the best efforts of his family... I think that Terry Donovan should do what Martin Sheen did for his sone Charlie and have him locked up for a while...

I've seen some recent pics of Jason, and he looks like he's lived twice as many years as he actually has... I don't believe that this is how many of his fans want to see him... I think that many Jason fans would like to remember him as I have him above, so I have a few pics here showing him looking that way (pics are from Raymond's Jason Donovan Page and The Groove Cave)...
