SELECTION CRITERIA FOR FINA WORLD CHAMPS 2001

To be eligible for selection, swimmers must participate at the 2001 S A National Aquatic Championships. Swimmers placing first or second in the finals may be considered for selection. Achieve the published qualifying time.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR MARE NOSTRUM 2001

To be eligible for selection, swimmers must participate at the 2001 S A National Aquatic Championships.  Swimmers placing first or second in the finals may be considered for selection. Achieve the published qualifying time. Affirmative selection will be considered.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF THE SA JUNIOR TEAM

TO REPRESENT SOUTH AFRICA AT THE JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL (MUSTAPHA LARFAOUI TROPHY) AGAINST BRAZIL FROM 22 - 24 MARCH 2001 at Germiston

  There are TWO Age Groups for boys and girls:

Born in 1986 and 1987

Born in 1984 and 1985

In each age group there may only be a maximum of 7 swimmers.

Total of 28 swimmers.

The following 8 events will be swum in this competition:

50m, 100m, 200m and 400m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke,

100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley.

  CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

Participation at S A Prestige Level 3 Age Group Competition in Bloemfontein. The winner in each age group in each event will be considered.  If there are 8 qualifying swimmers in an age group, the swimmer with the lowest ISSA point ranking will be eliminated. Swimmers selected for this South African Junior team may not enter any events at The S A National Junior Swimming Championships during the Mustapha Larfaoui Trophy competition.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF THE SA JUNIOR TEAM

TO REPRESENT SOUTH AFRICA AT THE JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL AGAINST BRAZIL FROM 5 - 7 OCTOBER 2001 in Brazil

  There are TWO Age Groups for boys and girls:

Born in 1987 and 1988

Born in 1985 and 1986

In each age group there may only be a maximum of 7 swimmers.

Total of 28 swimmers.

The following 8 events will be swum in this competition:

50m, 100m, 200m and 400m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke,

100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

Participation at S A Prestige Level 3 Age Group Competition in Bloemfontein, S A National Junior Swimming Championships in Germiston and S A National Aquatic Championships in Johannesburg. The winner in each age group in each event will be considered.  If there are 8 qualifying swimmers in an age group, the swimmer with the lowest ISSA point ranking will be eliminated. Availability to travel to Brazil in October 2001. Selected swimmers must be in possession of a valid South African passport.
