1. TITLE (a) The Title of the Club shall be the QUEENSBURGH BEAVERS SWIM CLUB (hereinafter referred to as "The Club"). (b) The area in which contributions will be collected and in which business will be carried on shall be the Province of Kwa-Zulu Natal. 2. OBJECTS The Objects of The Club shall be: - (a) To promote and encourage the arts of Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Synchronised Swimming and Life Saving; (b) To stage swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming exhibitions, galas and championships; (c) To represent Club members in their negotiations with, and at meetings of, Kwa-Zulu Natal Swimming and representative boards; (d) To raise whatever funds considered necessary by means of donations, the levying of subscriptions from members, or any other means deemed desirable by the Committee to enable The Club to fulfil its obligations; (e) To stimulate public opinion in favour of providing improved facilities and accommodation for aquatic sports. 3. AFFILIATION The Club shall be affiliated to and shall conduct all its competitions and activities in accordance with the laws and rules of Swimming South Africa, Kwa-Zulu Natal Swimming and KwaZulu-Natal Swim Board. 4. MEMBERSHIP (a) Members shall consist of the following classes: i. REGISTERED MEMBERS - who shall be officials of The Club and persons who are registered swimmers ii. COUNTRY MEMBERS - Temporarily non-resident members, who shall be officials of The Club and persons who are registered swimmers iii. SOCIAL MEMBERS - who shall be persons who are not registered swimmers iv. HONORARY MEMBERS - who shall be persons elected in terms of Clause 6 hereof. (b) Registered membership of The Club shall be restricted to members as defined by the International Amateur Swimming Federation (F.I.N.A.) and/or the Swimming South Africa and/or Kwa-Zulu Natal Swimming. Persons under sixteen years of age shall be classified as Junior registered members and persons of the age of sixteen years and over shall be classified as Senior registered swimmers. 5. HONORARY MEMBERS (a) Any persons nominated, who having rendered valuable service to the Club and who obtains a two-thirds majority vote of the General Meeting or Executive Meeting may be elected as an Honorary Member for the ensuing year. (b) Such Honorary Members shall be entitled to attend Annual and Special General Meetings, but shall not be entitled to vote. 6. HONORARY LIFE MEMBERS (a) Any member who has rendered service to The Club may, by a two-third majority vote of the Executive Committee, be recommended to the Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting of The Club for election as an Honorary Life Member. The Executive Committee's recommendation will require to be approved by a two-thirds majority vote of the voting members present at such a meeting. Such Honorary Life Members shall be entitled to attend the Annual and Special General Meetings of The Club and shall be entitled to vote, (b) All Honorary Life Members shall be entitled to admission on presentation to all functions held under the jurisdiction of The Club. 7. HONORARY PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT The Club may, if it so desires, at Annual General Meetings elect an Honorary President and Honorary Vice-President. 8. APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIPS Applications for membership shall be made on the prescribed form, signed by the applicant or, if the applicant is a Junior Member, by the parent/guardian of the applicant. The Committee may reject any such application without any reason being assigned. 9. SUBSCRIPTIONS The Executive Committee shall fix subscriptions annually. The subscription and levies of Kwa-Zulu Natal Swimming and Swimming South Africa, as fixed from time to time, shall be incorporated in the subscription fixed by The Club, and must accompany the application for membership from new members and, in the case of existing members, must be paid by the 1st May of each year. Unless the Honorary Secretary receives a written resignation by a Club Member before 1st October each year, the subscription for the ensuing year will apply. In the event of there being three or more registered members in one family, they will enjoy a reduced fee to be determined from time to time by the Executive Committee. 10. COMMITTEE (a) The affairs of The Club shall be conducted by and Executive Committee consisting of the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer. The election of members shall take place at the Annual General Meetings. (b) From the members elected in terms of Clause 10 (a), a Gala Secretary, Fundraising Committee and an Entertainments Committee are to be formed and will be bound by the bylaws formulated in Clause 18 (a) of the Constitution. (c) Any Committee Members, who without prior leave of absence granted by the Committee, fails to attend three successive Committee Meetings, shall be deemed to have vacated his office automatically. 11. CHAIRMAN, VICE CHAIRMAN, HONORARY SECRETARY AND HONORARY TREASURER The Chairman, Vice Chairman, Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Secretary shall be elected at each Annual General Meeting. They shall serve a minimum two-year term of office; thereafter they shall be eligible for re-election. 12. HONORARY GALA SECRETARY The Honorary Gala Secretary shall be elected by the Executive Committee and shall be co-opted at the first Committee Meeting held after the Annual General Meeting. 13. FINANCIAL YEAR The Financial Year of The Club shall run from 1st May to 30th April annually. |
