We had
a beautiful day for this walk, the tracks were dry and the rock face of
Egg Rock also dry. Seventeen walkers set off for this beautiful area of
Lamington to test and improve their skills at Rock-Climbing.
The rock is situated alongside Nixon Creek. It is 451 metres in height
and resembles a shape of an Egg.
The summit has enough space for only twelve people. We began our climb
up a non too easy cliff face using ropes for the first 35 metres.
Twelve climbers made it to the top of the cliff from where we followed
the rock face to the first lookout. The remainder of the climb was done
without ropes, but the face had plentiful hand and foot holds. Views
were to Turtle Rock, Ships Stern and the Numinbah Valley.
With every one safely down we set off on the 1-½ hour walk
back to the cars and a well earned coffee. Thanks Steve for your
expertise with the ropes. Barry
