12 of
us drove to Spicers Gap and began the 8 km circuit walk. In just half
an hour we were at the first lookout with views to Mt Mitchell, Mt
Cordeaux and Mt Castle.
After morning tea we continued and after a short scramble we had a
photo stop with Cunninghams Gap in the background. The vegetation
varied from open sclerophyll eucalypt forest, to grass trees, to
rainforest, to open grassland in quick succession.
There was also a bit of history to be learnt as we walked along Spicers
Gap road with signs telling us about the construction of the road. We
had lunch at Governors Chair with majestic views from Mt Walker to Mt
Barney. A leisurely side walk to Moss’s Well and the pioneer
graves completed the circuit.
Thanks to all who came on the walk and shared this fantastic
day. Richard
