Fourteen
people came on this walk though they had been warned that there was
some rock scrambling/climbing involved. There was a contingency plan in
case anyone was not able to get past the first rock slab. However Steve
had brought a length of rope and all made it past the first hurdle. It
was then a slow steady climb upward as walkers helped and encouraged
others onward.
Some of the walkers spent more time on their bottom than standing
upright but that was OK as it got them bit by bit a little closer to
the summit. Most had morning tea at the cave. A bird resting on a rock christened
the leader from above. Fortunately, his lunch was spared and it turned
out to be a portent of good fortune.
After more struggling uphill all fourteen reached the summit for
stunning views of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The sun was shining
and the scenery superb, a well earned treat.
The downhill section was taken carefully and all again made it safely
back to the cars.
Many thanks to Steve and his rope. Richard
