As the group's founder and
spokesperson, I have had a couple of media opportunities
recently. One landed in my lap and the other was a chance at
activism I couldn't let slip by.
Last week on Triple J, the Hack program featured some talk-back callers
talking about the limitations and humiliation they faced being
overweight. It really made me sad to hear these folks who were so
limited by their size- so I write a quick email to the show,
congratulating them on covering the issue and telling them about what I
would have said if I had been able to get through (it was too late -due
to daylight saving).
In response, they called me and asked me to come on the show. Steve
Cannane, the host, was great and genuinely felt we needed to get the
message of size acceptance out there.
Here are some pictures from my mobile phone while I was in the studio: on air my
security pass
I was also interviewed and
photographed for a feature in the Courier Mail's Life section that
should appear this weekend. I was interviewed about my size, but also
size activism and this group.
In group news, there are some great things in the works for next year-
so stay tuned!!
