How Many Live Shows
The most often quoted figure is 704, (692 takes into account of cancelled shows). The 704 figure includes dates before John Deacon joined in 1971. Their first gig as Queen (without JD) was Truro City Hall June 27th 1970 and their last Knebworth Park on the 9th August 1986. John's first gig was 2nd July 1971.

If the Freddie Mercury Tribute, the Bejart Ballet performance, the Amsterdam Queen's Day or the Party At The Palace etc are included the figure of 704 would obviously rise. Where do you draw the line as regards how the name Queeen is used - live or on record. Fans are split over this. Can Queen exist without Freddie? The new incarnation touring 2005 onwards, is not Queen, but Queen + Paul Rogers so not taken into account here..

Support Acts:
Queen only played support to one band once they were signed to a major label - Mott The Hoople. They had to pull out of the US tour as Brian became seriously ill with hepetitis B at their 11 May 1974 show. Queen were replaced by a band named Masque for 1 date and REO Speedwagon for another, then Kansas for the majority (if not all) of the remainder of the (US) tour.

Mott The Hoople: 12 Nov 1973 - 14 Dec 1973 (UK tour).

Saturday Night Live :1980 ???
Queen performed live in the studio of the USA TV late night programme Saturday Night Live. Mainly this was a comedy sketch show. Queen were introduced by Danny DeVito and played the following songs:

Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Under Pressure

Live Aid: 13th July 1985
Queen came on stage at approx 6:45pm (evening) and played the following songs:

Bohemian Rhapsody
Radio Ga Ga
Hammer To Fall
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
We Will Rock You
We Are The Champions
Is This The World We Created? (played by Freddie and Brian later in the evening).

This concert has not been released commercially. Part of the deal with the organisers (mainly Bob Geldof) was that no profits should be made by the artists following the show as Live Aid was in aid of rasing money for famine stricken people in Africa. So no t-shirts, videos or vinyl / CD have been produced commercially by any artist who performed at either the London show or it's US counterpart in Philadelphia. I doubt they ever will be either.

Who would administer the project? There is no Live Aid office to distribute finances.

However, bootlegs of video and audio recording are circulating.
