Look at the diagram to the left. Opposite
rows will have triangles in different positions. You must plan ahead.
One row will have ends that only have one triangle on them. You can turn the hexagons to put the triangle in the different positions (i.e. bottom right, top left) , but if you have "fussy cuts", turning them may put your picture upside down, so this will take a little extra effort! You will have to plan ahead. Place your "fussy cut" motif in the upright position and then pin the hexagons to it. The next row will have ends that have three triangles on them. The same applies as above for "fussy cuts". |
What I do is figure how many hexagons I need for the center without the ends, and chain sew them first. Then put out the rest of the hexagons in a pile for each row end type and side, then chain sew them so you know the triangles will all be in the right positions. As I said before, this is only really critical if you are using a motif in the hexagon that you don't want upside down!
