| POMERANIAN: The Smallest of the Spitzes The Pomeranian is the tiniest of the Spitz family; Spitzes include the American Eskimo, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Chow Chow, Keeshond, Samoyed, and more. The Pomeranian or Pom was first introduced to Great Britain in the 19th century and was first registered by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1887. The Pomeranian belongs to the Toy Group and Toy Class. The Pom can be described as a miniature resemblance of the much larger sled-pulling Spitz type dogs. It carries its tail curled up on its back; it has a double coat that makes it adaptable to all weathers and temperatures although it prefers to be in a cooler place. At a first glance, the Pom looks just like a round ball of hair on four legs :) The Pomeranian is a very active, friendly, and alert little dog who adores being spoiled and pampered. The Pom is fearless and will try to defend its territory against all strangers/intruders, even dogs many times its size. It is usually good with other pets and children, but it may not tolerate young children. The Pomeranian commonly lives from 14 to 20 years. | My name is Xena, and as you can see, I am a cute sable colored Pomeranian. I was born on the 29th of Jan, 2000. I was, then, purchased by Butlers Pets in Biloxi, MS, where Francisco Rey and his family bought me. After 6 months, Frank Rey and his family realized that I was too hyper for their lifestyle, so they had decided to surrender me after they bought their new english bulldog. So my mommy bought me from "SMSgt Frank Rey" as she called him. She took me home on the 6th of Sep. My mommy already had two male eskies before she got me, but it's okay. At least, I am still mommy's little princess... My registered name is QXSERENITY 00XENA POMPRINCESS. |
