Megaman X Armor Guide
This is a handy-dandy guide that outlines the specific locations, abilities, and requirements for each portion of X's many enhancements. I'm telling you, the little blue guy's got more armors than Iron Man! Everything you need to know to get each complete set of armor is right here at your fingertips. Just study the information below, toss your favorite Megaman X game in your console of choice, and get the enhanced armor to smite your enemies!
Regular Armor (All Megaman X games)
Made of lightweight "Titanium-X" alloy, this is the normal armor worn by X. This is what he's made of when found by Dr. Cain, as per Dr. Light's original design. His X-buster fires normal shots, which can be charged to either medium or high intensity. In the first game, he is not capable of dashing, but this ability is pre-equipped in all subsequent games.
First Armor (Megaman X)
Legs: It doesn't take a lot to find this. It's in plain sight in Chill Penguin's Stage. This enhancement contains the Emergency Accelleration System, which allows X to dash. Also, breakable blocks can be broken if X kicks them by using the wall-climbing maneuver. It's a good enhancement to get early in the game.
Head: This head enhancement allows X to break blocks with a headbutt. Also, it decreases the damage he takes if he takes a blow to the head. Lastly, the falling blocks in the cave of Sting Chameleon's stage will not harm him if they land squarely on his head. To get it, go to an area of Storm Eagle's stage where there is a climb up a tower of metal scaffolding. It should be just before the area where hard-hats, hovering claws, and walkers are. Cling to the right of the scaffolding and slide down, then dash-jump off of it towards the right. Destroy the canisters of flamable gas that block your path and proceed towards the capsule.
Arms: This modifies Megaman's X-Buster so that it can fire a third level of charged shot and even charge special weapons. There are two methods for getting this enhancement. [1.] You can get it after fighting Vile, when a dying Zero gives it to you. [2.] Also, if you have the leg and head enhancements when you enter Flame Mammoth's stage, you can make your way to a raised platform just before the floor that is covered in molten metal (or used to be, since it cools when you defeat Chill Penguin). Dash and jump to the left, and latch on to a gap in the ceiling that is filled with breakable blocks. Use the helmet enhancement to break the blocks as you kick your way up inside.
Body: It reduces X's damage by 50%. Getting it requires the leg enhancement. Before entering the cave in Sting Chameleon's stage, dash-jump from the ledge left of the cave and scale the cave walls to get above it. Defeat the robot guardian and the armor upgrade is yours!
Hadouken: If you have ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, you can revisit Armored Armadillo's stage. Collect the power-up at the end of the stage after the wagon ride, high atop the cliff. Throw yourself in the pit and die if you have lots of lives, but exiting and revisiting the stage works just as well.. Keep doing this, and on the fifth time, you will find Dr. Light's hologram wearing a gi in this capsule. X will get Ryu's signature Street Fighter move: the Hadouken! (Press down, down-forward, and forward, then the fire button.) However, it is only useable when X has full energy. It kills EVERYTHING in one hit!
Second Armor (Megaman X2)
Head: The helmet enhacement gives X the power of the Infra-Red Tracer. It scans the immediate area and zooms in on points of interest. Usually, this means the loactions of enhancements and Heart Tanks, but you can also find hidden energy rooms and other points of interest.
Legs: This enhancement will lengthen X's dash on the ground. Also, X can now air-dash! To get it, enter Overdrive Ostrich's stage with the Spin Wheel. There will be a long drop before the final stretch of the stage leading to the Maverick himself. At the top of that drop, Dash-jump to the right where there are breakable blocks. Use the Spin Wheel to reveal an opening. If you don't know where it is, use the Infra-Red Tracer.
Arms: This enhancement allows X to charge special weapons. Also, it allows X to charge two shots. Release the fire button to fire the first, then press it again to fire the second. It's found in the beginning of Wheel Gator's stage, just before the first drop. Using the air-dash will help you reach a gap in the ceiling. (It *might* be possible to get there with a well-placed shot of the Strike Chain, but the boots make it much, much easier.) If you're not sure of the location, use the Infra-Red Tracer. Using this enhancement to charge up the Silk Shot in certain hidden rooms can net you a lot of energy capsules! Also, you can charge the Infra-Red Tracer, but it has no effect.
Body: Just as you enter the recycling plant in Morph Moth's stage, there is a section of the floor that can be destroyed with the Spin Wheel. The Infra-Red Tracer can help you find it. The armor enhancement will let you collect damage energy and channel it into the ultra-powerful Gravity Crush, which damages all enemies on the screen.
Shoryuken: Like the Hadouken, getting this enhancement requires that you have EVERYTHING. Also, all four Sub-Tanks and X's energy must be full. In the third leg of the X-Hunters' stage, there comes a part where you can go down a ladder to finish the stage, or climb a seemingly out-of-reach ladder. Use the Crystal Hunter to freeze a bubble bat so you can climb the ladder. Get through the obstacle course by using your weapons cleverly (air dashing, powered-up Speed Burner, Strike chain, and Crystal Hunter) and slide down the left wall on the long drop after that. Then, if your life meter and Sub-tanks are full, you will encounter a room with a capsule that will give you another Street Fighter move: Ken's flaming Shoryuken! Like the Hadouken, it requires full energy to use. (Press forward, down, and down-forward, plus the fire button.)
