Race Against Front-Wheel-Drive in the Wet

Boundary Bay Airport, May 24, '98

It was unfortunate that the second regional race was in the rain. My responsive car setup and driving preference don't work in the rain because they require weight transfer. The less the available traction in the wet, the less the weight transfer and thus worse performance with my car setup and driving style. Harry didn't show up and I had to compete against FWD cars in the rain. From what I have seen in autocross, rain adds about 4 seconds to FWD cars in a 1 minute course while it adds about 7 seconds to RWD cars. It adds even more time penalty for my responsive setup. Although I tried my best in the rain but still got beaten by Dave's 170hp FWD Omni Turbo by 0.2 second.
