Rai
Rashid Ahmad Khan Bhatti
There are
several Muslim families who have both emotional and spiritual attachment
with Sikhism for the past several generations. Out of these families,
one family that has served significantly to the area is of Rai Rashid
Ahmad Bhatti.
Rai Rashid
Ahmad Bhatti;Ex M.N.A, born 15th January 1938 at Kot Hussain Khan, graduated
from Government College lahore in 1958. His elder brother Rai Bashir Bhatti
is law graduate and he remained MLA in 1951,MNA in 1965 and 1993. Rai
Rashid Ahmad Bhatti took active part in the restoration of democracy in
MRD movement and offered arrest from Regal Chowk Lahore as Secretary General
PPP Punjab.
Mr.Bhatti,
a well-known and influential politician of Pakistan, was at one time a
close associate of Benazir Bhutto. He was a memeber of the Provincial
Assembly in 1975 and got elected as a member of the National Assembly
of Pakistan in 1977 and 1988.
Mr.Bhatti
belongs to the 15th generation of Rai Bular, a landlord, who was a contemporary
of Garu Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikh faith. Rai Bular was awed by the
spiritual acts of the Guru and became his devotee. Later, Rai Bular's
family donated 750 murabas (18,750 acres) of agricultural land to Gurdwara
Nankana Sahib. The Gurdwara has been built at the birth place of Guru
Nanak Dev.
Mr.Bhatti
has three sons and all are Aitchisonian; eldest son Humayun Rashid BBA
from USA,is currently running a software house in California,second son
Haroon Rashid Bhatti,student of Law at University of Punjab, and third
son Rai Faisal Rasheed Bhatti,Student of MIS at Iowa State University.
Rai Rashid
Ahmad Khan Bhatti went to Libya as delegate to attend the first September
revolution day; went to Kuala-lumpar in a delegation of public private
partnership in health care and also to Jakarta in a seminar of population
planning; attended forty session of United Nation and addressed the General
Assembly.

U.S.A, U.K, Libya, Saudiarabia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Afghanistan,
Persia and Indonesia.

Member of college football team which won Punjab University Championship.
