Josie looks into her mirror as she waits for Vaughn. She and Vaughn are supposed to study for a Math test. Corrine sits on her bed packing her duffle bag. Vaughn, who is late, comes running in, looking very anxious. He just got back from his dad’s house. He stuns Josie by wanting to talk to Corrine and that they will have to put off studying for the test until another time. Hesitantly, Josie leaves. Vaughn tells Corrine that he was reviewing some of the old Pearadyne surveillance tapes and he saw Corrine talking to Sarah Pearson – his mother. After getting a split second flashback of her wandering Pearadyne, Corrine denies talking to Sarah. She tells Vaughn that she does not know what he is talking about and that she never spoke to anyone when she went back in time. The bell rings and Corrine proceeds to class.

“He’s still mad about you asking for your mom’s pendant? ” - Josie to Vaughn.
“Yeah, I guess. He really hasn’t talked to me much since.” - Vaughn.

“Okay, I’ll see you later, Corrine and Vaughn.” - Josie to Vaughn and Corrine.

In Science Club, Vaughn continues to pressure Corrine to tell him what she said to his mother. Corrine holds to the story that she does not know anything while Lucas, Josie, and Marshall observe the building tension in the room; their volume interrupts Professor Z’s speech. Professor Z tells them that the lesson will be about friction. He stops writing on the board and walks over to the desk where Corrine and Vaughn are arguing. Looking slightly annoyed, he asks them if either of them have heard of a gecko. After Corrine gives a scientific description of the gecko, Professor Z continues to tell about it. He states that the gecko can hang to any surface with one toe however its toes are neither very sticky nor as sticky as scientists had thought. He continues to say that the gecko creates a heightened molecular attraction to whatever it wants to climb, increasing the amount of friction between its toes and the surface. Taking out two, both which appear to be flat, metal cubes, he places them together and sets them down on Corrine and Vaughn’s desk, asking them to pull them apart. Despite the fact that both appeared flat, they struggle unsuccessfully to pull them apart. Josie asks if it is a form of magnetism but Professor Z corrects her, saying that it is actually friction. He explains that, with the use of a microscope, that one would see tiny peaks and valleys on the cube’s “flat” surface. These peaks and valleys create a bond that acts like magnetism, but actually isn’t. He then asks them to pull harder on the blocks as he proceeds back to the chalkboard. The two continue to argue about what Corrine supposedly knows and are able to separate the blocks as the bell rings. Corrine runs out of the classroom; Vaughn chases her. Marshall, to Josie and Lucas, asks what is up with the two of them. Josie tells him that they have been that way ever since Vaughn came into her room earlier.

“It’s a terrestrial and arboreal species of reptile, predominantly nocturnal which can be found worldwide.” - Corrine.

“I told you, nothing. There’s nothing to tell!” - Corrine to Vaughn.

Meanwhile, out in the hallway, Vaughn continues to pursue Corrine. She tells him that she is not going to just stand there while he says that she is lying. Corrine begins to suffer from a headache; a high pitched sound runs through her head. In the classroom, electricity runs from the desk into the two blocks. The two blocks pull themselves back together on the deck. Even though none of them saw, the sound of the two blocks coming together catches the attention of Josie, Lucas, Vaughn, and Professor Z, who remembers that the two blocks were left on the desk separated. Professor Z picks up one of the blocks, its partner remains attached even after Professor Z tries shaking it off. Lucas then grabs the other block and he and Professor Z pull on them, futilely. In the hallway, Corrine and Vaughn continue to argue. Lucas runs into the hallway, realizing what is about to happen. Corrine tries to go up the stairs but Vaughn grabs onto her left wrist with his right hand. Lucas is too late to stop anything as he, Josie, Marshall, and Professor Z run up to them. Corrine attempts to walk away, up the stairs, but Vaughn pulls her back unintentionally, still holding onto her wrist. He can’t seem to physically let go of Corrine.

“If I had talked to her, don’t you think I’d remember?” - Corrine to Vaughn

“Vaughn, would you mind letting go of Corrine now?” - Marshall to Vaughn
    “I ah…. I can’t.” -Vaughn

They all gather in Professor Z’s office. Professor Z is amazed by what he is witnessing. Lucas suggests that two of them grab on to Vaughn and the other two grab onto Corrine and the four of them pull Corrine and Vaughn apart. Corrine immediately rejects the idea as saying that it is a bad one. Professor Z realizes that it is possible for Vaughn to slide his hand, even though he can’t let go of Corrine. Trying the idea, Vaughn smiles, as the idea is working, while he slides his hand up Corrine’s arm. He gets to Corrine’s head when Corrine maneuvers his hand to her shoulder. Marshall and Josie express frustration with the way that Vaughn is touching Corrine. Corrine and Vaughn respond angrily, saying that neither of them wishes to be stuck like they are now. Corrine and Vaughn continue to argue about what Corrine did after she fell though the wormhole. Lucas tells them to stop arguing and that it was most likely arguing that has put them into their current situation. Professor Z suggests that they all continue to try to separate the blocks. All but Corrine and Vaughn head to the Science room. Josie orders the two to stay out of sight. Marshall adds to not stay so far out of sight that he cannot see them.

“Professor Z, please stop staring at us like we’re lab rats.” - Corrine to Professor Z
    “I’m sorry, I…I can’t help it … I mean, don’t panic, we’ll deal with this.” - Professor Z.

In the hallway, while Lucas and Professor Z go ahead, Josie and Marshall discuss what reasonable cause is behind Corrine and Vaughn being stuck together. Marshall asks Josie if Corrine has hinted at any problems she is having – homework, family, himself. Josie tells him that Corrine hasn’t complained about anything and Marshall goes on to ask if Vaughn has talked about any issues. Josie responds that he hasn’t – he’s somewhat private. They both joke about the possibility that there could be a relationship between Corrine and Vaughn, and laugh about how crazy the idea is.

“Aside from the usual “I have to be perfect at all times,” no.” - Josie, about Corrine, to Marshall.

In the Science classroom, Professor Z applies olive oil to the two blocks, telling Josie, Marshall, and Lucas that it is a natural lubricant. Josie brings up the practicality of how they will apply olive oil to Corrine and Vaughn. All four look back and forth to each other. Deciding to cross that bridge when they come to it, Professor Z places a hammer, using the claw as a wedge, against the blocks, he has Marshall tap it with a mallet.

“Let’s just take it one step at a time, okay, Josie?” - Professor Z.

In Professor Z’s office, Corrine paces back and forth, dragging Vaughn around with her. Corrine is irritated that the reason they are trapped in their situation is because Vaughn did not believe her. Vaughn says again that if Corrine would have told him what she said to his mother, they wouldn’t be stuck together. Corrine clings to innocence and realizes that Josie can confirm her side of the story since Josie went back in time to rescue her. Reluctantly, the both head into the hallway.

“Why don’t we sit still for a while?” - Vaughn to Corrine.

Embarrassed, they walk slowly to the Science classroom. Students in the halls make comments about how the two must be in some relationship and how they are cheating on Josie and Marshall.

“Wow, Vaughn’s a player.” - student in the halls.

“Dude, Marshall must really be hurting.” - Will to Jarrod.

As Corrine and Marshall walk into the Science room, Professor Z is using a sledge hammer, hitting a wedge on the two blocks between two cinder blocks, to try to force the two blocks apart, with no success. Marshall then grabs a metal mallet and hits the wedge before seeing Corrine and Vaughn. Marshall overreacts about how Corrine and Vaughn are walking round the school. Josie attempts to avert her gaze while Lucas seems indifferent towards the situation. Corrine, a bit irritated with Marshall, tells Marshall to calm down and that they are there to talk to Josie. Corrine asks Josie about the amount of time it took Josie to go after Corrine when she first fell though the wormhole, believing it was only minutes after Corrine initially fell through the wormhole. Josie replies that it was at least a half an hour which Lucas confirms. Josie continues to say that once in 1987 at Pearadyne, it took her a little while to locate Corrine. Vaughn is convinced that the time discrepancy between Corrine and Josie’s stories gave Corrine enough time to talk to his mother. Corrine’s headache persists and a high-pitched sound streaks across her mind. She sees flashbacks from Pearadyne 1987, when she fell through the wormhole: Josie pulling her away from the elevator and when she and Josie escape the falling control column with alarms and explosion sounds occurring around her. At that point, Corrine wants to see the security tape to find out what really happened. Corrine leading the way, she and Vaughn head off to Vaughn’s house. The rest of them continue working on the blocks. Professor Z strikes the wedge powerfully with the sledgehammer but the blocks don’t separate and the vibrations travel back through the handle and hurt his hands.

“Yeah, chill! Neither of us are interested in being like this.” - Vaughn to Marshall.

At Vaughn’s house, Vaughn apologizes to Corrine for giving her a hard time about this whole thing. He explains that other than his father, Corrine may be the only other person that he knows who also knew his mother. He continues to say that he believes that there is a possibility that she is still alive, because of the message (from episode Hologram) even though everyone else believes that she died in the explosion. In the study, Vaughn locates the tape from October 4, 1987 in a lower cabinet of a bookshelf. Corrine sees another flashback of when she was being sucked into the wormhole, Josie, Lucas, and Marshall trying to save her. Before they can do anything, they hear Victor calling for Vaughn, asking if he is there after thinking that he has heard someone in the house. Vaughn and Corrine look for a place to hide. Weaving around the furniture, Vaughn thinks to hide in the elevator. Vaughn pulls out a stone block on the wall, revealing an “up” and a “down” buttons, as well as a hole to the right of the two buttons, on the block’s right side. Vaughn pushes the down button and the wooden wall to the block’s right opens, revealing the elevator. Corrine and Vaughn go into it and the doors close right as Victor enters his office, adjacent to the study. Peering into the study, he sees the bookshelf’s lower cabinet ajar. He opens it and sees that the security tapes are in there. He appears slightly confused. Meanwhile, in the elevator, Corrine brushes up against the elevator controls accidentally hits the “down” button. The elevator begins to move. Victor, hearing the elevator powering up, rushes to the stone block and pulls it open. Victor takes out an electronic key stick, turns it on, and sticks it into the hole to the right of the “up” and “down” buttons. The elevator stops. Vaughn realizes that Victor has stopped the elevator. Swiftly, Vaughn turns the key on the elevator control panel so that Victor cannot make the elevator come back up. He and Corrine then force the doors open, revealing that they are between floors; a large vent is before them. Vaughn has an idea.
Power is restored to the elevator and it goes back up to the study. When the doors open, Victor is surprised to see it empty.
In the Science room, Professor Z is using a welding torch to heat the blocks, hoping that it will cause the metal to expand and reduce the molecular friction of the blocks. Lucas brings up a problem which Professor Z clearly had not thought about:

“But how do we apply an open flame to Vaughn and Corrine? … I know, one step at a time.” - Lucas.

Vaughn and Corrine come out of another air vent, emerging in the ruins of Pearadyne. Corrine feels the familiar presence. She gets another flashback, her head really hurts. Vaughn suggests leaving but Corrine wants to press on. Continuing through the hallway, they come to a room. Corrine sees people running out of the room. As she tells Vaughn that it all seems familiar, she suffers a massive headache. Holding her head, she tells Vaughn that she is trying to remember something but something is blocking her. Struggling with herself, she is able to break through the barrier.

“Get out of my head!” - Corrine

Corrine remembers what occurred. She says that Pearadyne was being destroyed. She observes Victor and Sarah arguing about the stability of the wormhole. She tells Victor that the coordinates for her arrival in the future are ready and she must leave. Victor, however, wants to remove the power source and abort the procedure. Sarah orders him not to, saying that he will ruin her plans. Victor, sounding like he does not know what she is talking about, is surprised by the emphases that the plans are hers. She corrects herself, saying that the plans are theirs but she still needs to leave. Victor wants her to go into the blast shelter with him though. Reluctantly, she agrees. As he enters the blast shelter followed by Sarah, Sarah shuts the door, locking Victor in the blast shelter. All Victor can do is hopelessly call for her from behind the blast shelter’s door. Corrine watches on from behind the door of the room, shocked.

“No, don’t you dare touch it! You’ll ruin everything! All my plans!” - Sarah to Victor.

Sarah sees Corrine and gestures her to enter. She asks how long Corrine has been standing there. Stumbling on her words, Corrine replies that they need to leave. Sarah agrees. On her wrist, she opens a device which shines a blue light and focuses it in front of Corrine’s eyes. Corrine’s vision becomes cloudy and the memory ends.

“I…We have to get out of here. We have to go now.” - Corrine to Sarah
“We will, both of us.” - Sarah to Corrine.

Vaughn asks Corrine what she remembers (she was not retelling the story to him; the audience was only seeing what she remembered). Before Corrine can tell Vaughn, they hear the elevator coming down. The two run for another air vent, preventing Corrine from telling Vaughn anything. At the air vent, they both apologize for not believing each other. Vaughn proposes that, instead of fighting, they just talk about a problem and work it out. Then, Corrine and Vaughn are suddenly forced apart from each other. They are no longer joined together. At the same time, in the Science room, Josie and Lucas are pulling on the two blocks while Marshall sits on a desk hopelessly telling them to pull harder. The two blocks separate, causing Josie and Lucas to fall to the floor as Professor Z walks in carrying a jackhammer.
Corrine and Vaughn emerge in a field, where the vent let out. Vaughn asks Corrine what she remembers but Corrine stalls by saying that Victor probably knows about the air vent, especially if they found it, and that they should head back to the school. Agreeing with her, Vaughn drops the subject as they hurry to get back to the school.

In the Science room, Josie tells Lucas, Marshall, and Professor Z what Corrine told her about the resurfaced memories. Josie explains that it seems that it was Sarah Pearson who was in control, not Victor. The news is shocking to Lucas and Marshall. Marshall wonders what they will do if Sarah Pearson contacts them for help again. Professor Z redirects their attention towards how Vaughn will react when he learns the truth about his mother.
At the same time, in the Recreation room, Vaughn runs out, not wanting to listen to what Corrine has to say. Corrine is left alone by her attempt to tell Vaughn the truth and keep friction from building between them. In the Science Room, the four hear the result of the conversation. As Professor Z and Lucas walk off, Josie and Marshall try reassuring themselves that they don’t have to worry about anything that might be going on between Corrine and Vaughn. Neither seem like their minds are at ease though.

“No! I can’t hear this!” - Vaughn to Corrine.

In the Janitor’s quarters, the Janitor is playing chess by himself when Josie2 walks up to him. She asks him how Vaughn will react now that he knows the truth about his mother.

“He’s not the one I’m worried about.” - The Janitor to Josie2.

    Episode notes:

    • Janitor's secret message: "Two share a connection. Memory is restored. One is not what was believed."
    Personal thoughts:
The idea of Corrine/Vaughn is kind of random and it is weird that the characters would suspect it. However, the idea of that ship actually interests me. It is a lot better than Corrine/Marshall.
If Vaughn saw Corrine in the security tapes, why didn't Victor? Victor has really no hostility towards Corrine, there is no evidence that he knows of her presence in the tapes. Strange. And Corrine's memories, the flashbacks, are in third person. If it is her witnessing her own memories, she should have seen them from her perspective. I have heard of people who remember their memories in the third person though. It is apparently a characteristic of someone who has an emotionally detatched, logical nature.
Marshall was out of character. Him being jealous is not him. Other episodes show how being carefree and sort of a comic relief. There is even an emphasis on him being emotionally detatched and not susceptile to jealousy. It does make for funny scenes though. Although, Marshall's ego issues with Vaughn were established in Invisible. The idea that Vaughn, over almost anyone else, may take his girlfriend could drive him off the deep end with jealously.
Overall, a very humourous episode. Professor Z's attempts to seperate the blocks were well done. If you're looking for a laugh, this is an episode you should seek to watch. Besides the C/M plotline, this episode was great.
