Paramahansa with Luther Burbank
Luther Burbank and Paramahansa Yogananda

Santa Rosa, California 1924

I had been practicing yoga and meditation for years when one day, while in a bookstore I picked up a small book entitled Metaphysical Meditations. I am not really sure what made me buy the book but once I started reading it I became intrigued by the author's teachings. Years later I found a copy of Autobiography of a Yogi. Remembering his wonderful little book I enjoyed so much years before, I opened the cover and was very surprised to read the dedication, "to the memory of Luther Burbank, An American Saint." Since Luther Burbank is an ancestor of mine it made me wonder, are there such things as coincidences? Since then I have read several of his books including In the Sanctuary of the Soul, A Guide to Effective Prayer, one of my favorites.

Live in this world as a guest. This is not your true home. The deed to the house you live in may be written in your name, but whose was it before you acquired it? And whose will it be after you die? It is only a wayside inn, a brief halt on the long journey to your home in God. ~Paramahansa Yogananda~
