Wood-Free Alternatives for the Construction Industry

Agriboard Industries
Fairfield, Iowa
- Manufacture an Oriented Strand Board (OSB) from waste agricultural straw.
- In 1996, their target was to produce 200,000 sq ft of structural panels, enough for about 500 homes, from 900 tons of straw. Over the next seven years, the company hopes to triple production volume. It anticipates that it will cost considerably less to construct with OSB than to build a conventional stick frame home.

Biocomp
Institute of Ecolonomics, p.o. box 500, Ridgeway, CA 81432
