Global Warming Is A Real Threat
The ultimate carnivore, man, is unthinking, unrelenting. We are destroying our only home and, sadly, we cannot create another. All life is connected. In the air, man kills the ozone layer which kills the birds. On the land, man kills the nutrients which kills the grass which kills the antelopes which kills the lions. In the sea, man kills the micros which kills the krell which kills the fish which kills the sea lion which kills the polar bear. In time, man will realize what has been done when he casts his net to the seas. Where do we pick berries when the forests are dead? Where do we hunt when the plains are barren? Where do we fish when the seas are empty? What do we breath when the air is deadly? What do we drink when the water is poison?
Several ice ages have passed and the temperature has altered by a mere 5 Celsius. Living creatures cause a normal amount of Carbon monoxide which collects and traps heat as it rises to the ozone layer. Sound dangerous? Not really. Mother Nature, through the passage of time, has allowed the built-up heat to escape the biosphere. This process has kept the planet at a consistantly normal range of temperature and protected the earth from overheating.
Since the begining of the industrial age, 100 years ago, the carbon monoxide level has increased more than 25%. Now we're talking dangerous. Calculated at the same rate, we're looking at an ecological nightmare within 50 years. Computers have estimated that, by the year 2040, the carbon monoxide level will have doubled and caused a global warming effect. This condition will increase the earth's temperature by a conservative 5 C and force sea level to rise a moderate 100 meters. Wet becomes wetter as dry becomes dryer.
Basing the current calculations on carbon monoxide alone, Indonesia will lose 40% of their land to include crops, homes, and population. Florida, California, and other states within 100 meters of sea level, will be covered by ocean waters. Nevada, Utah, and other states more than 100 meters above sea level, will become far hotter than they currently are and increased dry spells will turn once fertile earth into unplantable dust.
Are you concerned? No? Ok, let's use computer logic and increase the seriousness of the global warming problem by a mere 5% and 2.5 C with each item added. Since computer calculations have verified that, as of 2040, the carbon monoxide level will be 50% higher and the temperature will increase 5 C, we'll use these conservatively generated figures as a base line for that time frame. Each additional item causes an increase in reaction calculations.
Now add methane (a heat producing gas), and carbon monoxide increases to 55% as the temperature rises another 7.5 C. Now add CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon), and carbon monoxide increases to 60% as the temperature rises another 10 C. Let's be real conservative on these next two and add only a fraction of the amount to the equasion. Now add 10% of the chemicals, gases, etc, that man has already created and carbon monoxide increases to 65% as the temperature rises another 12.5 C. Now add 5% of all those that will be created within the next decade and carbon monoxide increases to 70% as the temperature rises another 15 C.
It's time face reality. At the current rate we're going, the global warming effect will reach major proportions. Our earth, or any planet for that matter, cannot support life if made up of 70% carbon monoxide and temperatures that reach 115 C. Now are you concerned about our earth?
If you want an ideal picture of what global warming is going to do to the earth, check out the MCA Universal movie "Waterworld". It's a possible global warming with a fairy tale ending.
Environmental Concern
Modern technology and an ever increasing human population have brought about pollution to such an extent that many scientist believe the exsistence of man and other forms of life on earth is seriously threatened. Noise, pesticides, automobile exhaust fumes, smoke, industrial wastes, and sewage and other refuse - these are but a few of the pollutants that are causing environmental problems.
A CONVERSATION BETWEEN NATURE AND MAN
Nature Could Solve All Our Problems
If Nature were unthinkingly cruel and relentlessly arrogant, like man, she'd have long since wiped humanity off the face of the earth as we're doing to her. She sees no color or race or nationality or creed or religion for Nature is not prejudice like mankind. She is kind and gentle, providing us with a variety of beauty and wonder to behold. On occasion, Nature does let us know she's still there and sends even the bravest of us running for shelter.
