MONITORS

this is a baby savannah monitor

All monitors are carnivorous. There diet ranges from bugs while they are young to mice, frogs, birds, and lizards smaller than themself.

All monitors are egg layers, have numerous sharp teeth long sharp claws and a long forked tongue. Also they all are the same shape but vary greatly in size.

Monitors included among their number the largest and heaviest lizards on earth. Monitors habitat are varied from Savannah Monitors need of absolutely dry heat and sunlight to the Nile monitors need of of a habitat of both land and water. They often sleep in the water and can remain submerged for long periods.

The Nile and Savannah Monitor are the most popular monitor in the pet store but with there needs of habitat so different you must be careful of which one you have and to have the right habitat for the one you get.

Some people can't handle the savagery of how they eat so if you are going to buy one you might want to see it eat first, and I always perfer to buy a young reptile so that I know I can handle it and know that it is bonding to me and not still bonded to its former owner..even if its former owner was the pet store, some reptiles get attached and will not like anyone else.
