LIFE HISTORY OF Danaus genutia intermedia (Common Tiger)

The adult Common Tiger emerges early in the morning at around 6:30am to 7:00am. It spends about an hour or more drying its wings before taking flight. This female Common Tiger is shown here about to feed on one of its favourite nectar plants, Lantana.

A view of the upperside of the of the Common Tiger. This is the female of the form-intermedius, which features white hindwings, as opposed to the orange-coloured form-genutia. In the batch of 7 caterpillars which were bred, three were form-intermedius whilst the other four were form-genutia.
