We Are The Keepers of Mother Earth

One Person's Observations

Our children are our products. They are, what they are taught. We seem to have lost sight of this, in this day and age. We ask "How can they do these things?!" Maybe we should look at ourselves. We teach our children to take care of the things they have, such as their toys, clothes, bikes, etc. We tell them they have to do this because we can't afford to go out and buy them a new one if they break it. Yet, we do just that, to Mother Earth. We pollute her waters to the point that it's not safe for us to drink without many chemicals in it to purify it. We strip mine, and dig in her belly for whatever can be used for fuel or precious metals. We bleed her for oil. We strip her of the trees that give us oxygen, shade, and such. There's much $$$$ in selling wood. I've seen much greed in the eyes of those who have no respect for anyone or anything, except the almighty DOLLAR. The taking of land and removal of trees has destroyed so much habitat for our wildlife, that many are extinct. Many are getting there! We reduce the habitat AREA of the animals, then get QUITE upset when they start making appearances in our neighborhoods and backyards. What the hell do you expect?

The world has become a disposable society, from dishes to diapers to relationships. It's easier to throw it away! In doing so, we have so much refuse that it gets dumped in the ocean. What happens when the ocean becomes so polluted that it no longer supports life? What do we do for fish? Can't use the lakes: most of them are already polluted. What about relationships? Today, it seems easier to jump from one to another, than to work at the one we're in. No wonder the children of today are so confused and angry. Ever read some of the things they write about? I've seen some of the writings of some local teens. 90% of it is on death, dying and suicide. Some of it was printed in the high school's little paper. I'm shocked that the teachers and councilors don't see what's going on in the heads of their students! We need to be better teacher's ourselves. How can we teach our children, when we're guilty of doing what we're trying to teach them NOT to do????? It's time we take a good hard look at what's going on, before we kill Mother Earth and there'll be NOTHING left for our children.

As I sat in the early morning March sun, I noticed the trees, coated with a thick covering of ice. It made them look like fragile, rainbow faceted crystal. Fragile, yes, as if one good gust of wind would shatter them into millions of tiny shardes of glass. Fragile, like Mother Earth and ALL who dwell upon her and rely on her for life.

In the day, Father Sun, fierce warrior, gently provides Mother Earth with everything she needs to nurture ALL her children. Grandmother Moon gives us her light and wisdom in the night. She is there for us to hear and learn from, if we only take that time in the night to be quiet and listen with our hearts.

There is never such a lonliness as being with someone without physical touch to fill the emotional spirit. Words alone are not enough. A touch, a kiss, a gentle reassurance of love.

Speak without offending and listen without defending, for without doing both, issues cannot be resolved.

Thank you for taking the time to read my writings. I hope they gave you some food for thought.

I also hope nobody is offended by these writings. They are merely MY observations through life. Please feel free to go to my main page and sign the guestbook. There, you can leave your comments.
